not sure what this is.

810 Cormorant St is a free-standing building located just off of Blanshard St in downtown Victoria. Recently converted into a permitted restaurant space for up to 50 people. This property underwent both electrical and plumbing upgrades to meet the health board's requirements for foodservice and will lend its self well to commercial kitchen operations. The 2700 sq ft space is nearly wide open and with it being a single-story building, adding additional infrastructure like commercial venting is easily achievable. The building has great street presence and gives the operators the creativity to fully brand the building. The gated onsite parking lot allows for 5-7 parking stalls and rear loading. Great location for catering companies and ghost kitchen-style operations.

^I don't understand what you exactly get for the $55,000.

The current owners are one of those crazy Nigerian prosperity churches.

^So the $55k buys you the restaurant fixtures only and you negotiate a separate lease with the landlord I assume.

Pluto's installed their neon sign on the old San Remo building. Looking good.

So it looks like we will be dining outside for the next while. Stopped in at Brentwood Lodge this afternoon for a meal on their deck. There are some nice tables overlooking the bay and some not so nice ones around the corner of the building.

Where else could one go with a nice view? Any suggestions?

^ This is handy. Thanks for that Matt. I thought of you yesterday during my Saturday morning ritual of watching cartoons with our grandson. I think you would be impressed with the progress the kids are making with the Black Rose Farm.

i see that the downtown whitespot is closed.  no take-out or delivery.  that's a high volume place, probably over 100 staff.

thinking both kegs must have laid off over 100 staff each too.

I frequented that place as I used to live nearby, and once when I popped in for old time’s sake in late 2020-ish all former staff (most long-time) were no longer working there. With the arena closed business dropped significantly, and they counted on business from three hotels adjacent or across the street from them. Paul’s is now low barrier housing, City Centre has been a rental for most of COVID, and there will be no tourists visiting the hotel kitty corner from them. And that patio was quite small, as in only a few tables that were rarely used due to the noise along Douglas.

Are those current union wages? Yuck. What’s the point.

Of that I have no doubt! They are likely perfectly suited to the task at hand and good business partners.

I follow their page on FB, Gabe has the perfect connections for this.

There is also a rider saying if the provincial minimum wage rises then servers will ahead get at least 10 cents more and kitchen staff will get at least 25 cents more.

after union dues hard to know if you are ahead on wages. but you have other benefits I suppose.

but perhaps this union contract has prevented this outlet from staying open during this lockdown. the other non unionized locations remain open.

mayfair food court east indian food, $119,000

MYSTERY, downtown:

This turn key cafe is located downtown and is surrounded by office and residential towers. The beautiful two-level space requires no upgrades and is truly a turn-key space. Great natural light from over height ceilings and skylights create a welcoming atmosphere away from the hustle of downtown. Currently set up as a coffee and lunch café with a customer demographic ranging from students to office workers. The well set up café style kitchen can accommodate a range of food concepts and with ventless technology becoming widely available there is a possibility of expanding the menu. The main level has ample seating and is well set up to handle the coffee and lunch rushes. The upstairs area is a full-height mezzanine that has additional seating, perfect for groups. Good lease in place until 2024.

$78,000

Hmm, after going through the reno I don’t think they’d price it at $78k.

This is a tough one.

not a bad guess, but mike is right, too low a price.

surrounded by office and residential towers

not too many residential tower clumps.  next to office towers.
