Civil debate is great.

Until antifa shuts down a venue where it’s scheduled to occur.

"Antifa", which is not an organization BTW, are anti-fascists.  They respond to Fascists. Providing platforms to fascists is not "civil debate".

What really makes this offensive MIke, is that you know that the violence from the Right, has prompted the reaction from the Left yet somehow you smear those who are standing up to Fascists.

I know we can debate who they identify as Fascists and I will accept they may go too far. That does not change the fact that Fascists are being emboldened by the violent language of Conservative leaders and have been for decades.

Why do people on the left lose all critical thinking skills when it comes to this? You know just calling opponents fascist to give your violent activism legitimacy is textbook strategy for the radical left and has been for decades. Kind of like "the war on terror" the devil is in the details. Who could possibly against be against a war on terror right? Who supports terror? Its the same thing with antifa.

As for "The violence from the right" that has sparked such a brave and valiant antifa reaction, that's literally just having different opinions and daring to voice them on campuses or in speaking events. Antifa literally believes words and opinions they don't agree with are acts of violence. I'm not making this up, this is all admitted.

There is no justification for groups like antifa. These pathetic larpers are destroying discourse and doing more to radicalize the right and left than anyone.

Oh gosh, Ted.

Explain to us why antifa rioted when Ben Shapiro was scheduled to give a talk at Berkeley? He’s as much a fascist as you or I, but because of his facts-don’t-care-about-your-feelings opinions, he’s deserving of masked hoards intimidating individuals from attending his speeches how?

Antifa is a violent decentralized movement. They are no better than throngs of KKK intimidating people in public. No better.

Dirty clothing is better than being run over by a car or shot, yes.

How about simply using your words to indicate your disagreement and leave it at that....escalating it beyond words simply shows your inability to communicate

Maybe the question is would you say the things you have written in this thread to his face.

Are you kidding me?

Have you read any of my previous posts?

I'd say everything I've ever posted directly to his face.

I don't post one iota more than what I wouldn't say right out loud to whoever I'm talking about.

Fascism: A political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

autocratic
taking no account of other people's wishes or opinions; domineering.

Sorry but fighting Fascism with Fascism is Fascist....

Ok now we all have that off our chests, there are a number of speakers lined up to speak at tonight’s council meeting to discuss the horse drawn carriage situation.

It looks like it will be standing room only. Anybody going?

And relatively educated people see that.

And why they’re turning their support to conservative governments.

And why socialist governments are in a frenzy to lower the voting age to 16, to give incarcerated individuals the vote and allow non-citizens to vote.

Maybe you missed the post from the moderator suggesting that criticizing an actual person or group isn't at all appropriate, we could only critique the underlying policy.

With every 'milkshake assault' at the hands of an imbecile fuelled on by an army of imbeciles.....

(Some VV forum moderators really need to buff up on the dictionary definition of "two-faced", or get out a metaphor dictionary and seek out "talking out of both sides of ones mouth")

Don't thing so:

Mmmm, this one from you Mike: "Opinions can be conveyed in a respectable manner".

From Sparky: "It is one thing to disagree with political beliefs, and it is quite another to call people names because of that.....Please, if you want to get a point across, focus on the topic as opposed to the person"

Actually, I think I've got a pretty good, and pretty accurate read on the situation.

Mike please ... suggesting such a thing is truly beneath you.

You called a potential Antifa aggressor an "imbecile". You made a direct reference to an anonymous "person", and called them a rude name.

If you want to go toe to toe with me online Mike, I'm happy to engage with you anytime ... but if you're going to resort to grade 6 attempts to (lamely) try to put words in my mouth, I'd rather just ignore you.

Nah, I haven't ever put anybody on "ignore" on any web forum I've participated in. That's not how I roll ... it would ruin the entire purpose of participating in a web forum.

Even "Mystic Pizza" and "HB" were free to pollute my computer screen on a regular basis.

I'd rather point out your errors and omissions Mike, and monitor you (and RFS) for subtle signs of "Naziism" (oops, there I've used the word that automatically loses me the argument ...maybe I'll have better luck next time!).
