Poor gal must have been distracted thinking about bike lanes.

The thigh side effect is not worth it.

Looks like an older nissan versa had a bad experience with a one of those, brakes went out swerved just before a restaurant and avoided going off a pier used the side of an oncoming tractor trailers front bumper to stop it.

It was a mistake yes but I consciously decided not to fix it because in this instance it gives it a bit more of a canadian accent. Capitalization part was on purpose from the start they didn't deserve it.

Was the Saanich Fire pickup involved? Looks pretty close to the Versa in that picture

No, I believe the Saanich FD pickup was the first responder before the ambulance arrived.

I'm sure the bus driver saw the whole thing coming but couldn't do a thing about it except say to himself, great, now I have to talk to a supervisor about this for two hours.

Emergency crews closed down Johnson last night just before midnight following a single vehicle crash near Camosun Street. A young driver struck a utility pole and sheared it right off. The pole was left dangling above the street as it hung by the wire. No word on whether the young driver is ok.

Then along the TCH at the entrance to Thetis Lake a vehicle hit the highway barrier and was flung across the highway. This happened just before 3AM. Reports are not very clear, however.

So is Ron Broda OK? Is he going to survive? Has his leg been saved? Any paralysis?

As a fellow motorcyclist, I really hob Mr. Broda is going to make a full recovery, and I hope that if the accused is guilty that they face appropriate punishment.

To refresh everyone's memory Ron Broda lost one of his legs in a motorcycle crash at Ogden Point.

Ron underwent surgery last night in Australia where he has had a new bionic mechanical leg installed. Ron has reported to me that the surgery went well and that he woke up from the ordeal and required a sandwich.

The accused, Eric Gosse, was found guilty, fined, suspended, and spent time in the Pokey.

Gosse had been a pilot boat operator for 20 years. He had no prior criminal record.

What was Gosse suspended from, Sparky?

"A driver who struck and critically injured a motorcyclist at Ogden Point three years ago has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and prohibited from driving for five years."

Link is behind a paywall so I don't do that anymore.

sorry should have said "prohibited" not "suspended".

Another elderly parking lot speedster.

Witnesses saw an older couple escorted from the scene for precautionary reasons after one of them drove their sedan over a concrete barrier in the Shelbourne Plaza parking lot and into a pillar in front of Hart Pharmay IDA.

Better known as the Heart Pharmacy IDA.

Nobody deserves to get hurt, but both those drivers were performing their tasks very poorly.

Just under 2,000 hydro customers are without power in the Bear Mountain and Highlands areas following a vehicle collision with a hydro pole. The occupant(s) remains trapped as emergency crews await hydro crews to handle live wires.

Collision between a van and a cyclist along Dallas Road.

Van driver apparently had a medical emergency, hit several parked cars and a cyclist.  The bike was dragged for several blocks under the van.

Both driver and cyclist taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yikes, that could have ended so badly. Glad to hear that the cyclist and the driver were transported to hospital with less than severe injuries.
