It'll actually be 14 floors:

It's 14 floors but the top floor is the 15th. The 13th floor is omitted for "good luck."

I walked up the parkade yesterday hoping to catch a shot from up there but to my surprise the top floor is locked! Unless one has an access pass there's no way to get up there. There were cars parked up there so I assume a pass is available if you pay for it.

Didn't we already know about that? I thought somebody wrote a letter to the paper one time complaining about a shortage of parking and how the top level of the Johnson St. parkade was off limits.

It might have been an angry letter about the Juliet, now that I think about it.

What about the 4th floor, I wouldn't want to live there, it'd mean an early death!

Why? Because people can hop across from the parkade roof?

Some people believe it is an unlucky number.

If you lived on the fourth floor, north side you'd have to get used to Ed Norton staring right at you all day.

Construction is really picking up right now in Victoria. Juliet had a crane going up yesterday. I am not sure if it is done today but it was pretty cool to watch it be put together.

There is no 4th floor on a lot of buildings in China, no Cabin #4 on the boat up the Yangzi river either.
Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.

Wait, did Juliet really pander to this ridiculous superstition?

Most do. In fact, many Vancouver condos do away with the fourth, 14th and 24th floors which many superstitious Chinese consider "unlucky". The eighth floor would be popular.

Makes me want to create a four tower development of 13 story buildings with 413 units with an address of 413 or maybe 1304.

Sometimes I really worry that this sort of pandering will lead to 20 story buildings where the top floor is labled 98 due to over-sensative developers fearing they have to bow to every posible numerical superstision known to man. I think the sort of person who'd take these things seriously would know if they were really on the 4th floor or 14th floor or 44th floor regardless of what the elevator button says. Then again anyone that stupid probably can't even count what actual story they are on.

In this light, the attitude of many Victoria residents toward tall buildings begins to make sense. See, four stories really IS too high.... :smt003
