What does the name "Biophilia" have to do with furniture?

About as much as El Furniture has to do with a restaurant. Which reminds me, I'm opening up an autobody repair shop called Dave's One Hour Drycleaning.

They are going into a space at the Duncan Mall (Winners, SportChek, Staples, etc.). Interesting choice over Cowichan Commons. I guess they didn't need such a large space like the old Rona.

OK, someone needs to set up a quiz; match the business with the product they sell. So you'd have El Furniture, Bois & Cuir, Melt Town and all the other recent head-scratchers.

I suppose it literally only means "lover of life".

What is Melt Town? Grilled cheese shack? Ice cream shop? Candle store? Drug lab?

Bois and Cuir is French for wood and leather.. seems logical for a furniture store. Or A chain of S & M fun houses.

To make way for the new development at Fort & Quadra hopefully.

W Talking with one of the staff, he said that the location will be converting to a Lowe's. Following the Lowe's takeover of Rona last year, they had said that most Rona's would remain branded that way, but I guess the Langford location's number has come up.

The Langford Rona will be rebranded as a Lowes.

Ok

Ingledew's Shoes @ Hillside Mall will be closing by early July; the entire chain of 6 store (5 in Vancouver + Hillside Mall) is liquidating.

It's well known that at least two other retail chains in that same mall corridor - Tip Top Tailors and Sears Canada - are both in serious trouble (the former is currently in creditor protection).

Damn, they're one of the better shoe stores in town the only shop that gets me out of town into the malls.  Town hasn't been doing great on the shopping front either.  It feels more and more like I just need to stock up on the odd times I find myself in Vancouver.
