The former White Spot on Mt. Newton X at HWY 17 is becoming a White Spot once again after an independent operator, who I think took over the space for about a year, has closed down and the spot will once again become a White Spot.

Fixed.

Seriously, I didn't even realize this spot wasn't a White Spot this past year. Could have sworn they still had White Spot signage up. Maybe I just see that logo in my dreams...erm...nightmares after riding BC Ferries about 200 times in the past 4 years.

Was always an independent spot. They just didn't offer her what she wanted when she didn't renew her franchise but the wanted to keep the space. White Spot finally came back with an offer she couldn't refuse. It will now be a corporate location.

This Victoria Chinatown store is for sale - including all fixtures and inventory, for just $40,000.

They weren't able to sell the contents--much of it is being auctioned Tuesday afternoon at Lund's.

Ingledews is one of the few shops where both my husband and I can get shoes that fit! I have small feet and he has narrow. What are we to do now? It's a huge problem.

Oh is that the neverending shop in Chinatown? I wonder what will happen to the old artifacts. I hope they can be saved somewhere.

After 40 years, Fluevog shoes is returning to Victoria; an outlet in Market Square.

Actually, they're opening "swoon" in the old American Apparel location.

Anyone know if something is up with Watch It? Their Richmond location is closing, and I heard that the Mayfair location will be closing too.

Any truth to the rumour that IKEA will be opening a store near the Costco in Langford? This same development is said to also include a Toys R Us...

Who wants to field this one?

I was also told that IKEA considered Saanich before turning to the Langford site...and the property to be developed is on McCallum Road directly across from Costco.

The Chapters on Douglas won't be moving until the Mayfair Mall extension is done. They are one of the new tenants from what I heard at Shoppers today from one of the managers. Shoppers was doing some front end upgrades today with the installation of self checkouts. I questioned this with the impending move and was told that they can't move in till Chapters moves out once Mayfair is complete. They then said the changes being made a easy to mobe, as it's just the addition of the self checkouts.

Hopefully an insider will stick his neck out* and confirm or deny.

The potential positive impact of a decent redevelopment of that Shoppers Drug Mart property is almost off the charts.

It is, but it's a bit sad to have a merchandise retailer leave in favour of a larger drug store.  But I think the expanded Shoppers food will be welcome downtown by many.  I know I'm impressed with just the 1.5 food aisles they have now.

It's on the west side of Douglas. The best one can hope for is a 3-storey box.  :(

^well its more of Chapters parent company changing the store size and dynamic of ALL their stores.

That store size is not viable for what they are now and they have been planning their departure for years. It's been more of a matter of finding the space they wanted to actually make the move.
