oh so it's H-Mart going into the toys r us location. people were right in that it was going to be an asian grocer going in there, just didn't know who it would be.

it's opening in November. i wonder what kind of store it is. T&T was a good guess though

Costco Langford has removed all the plexiglass from their checkout tills.

Have any other grocery stores or retailers removed them too.

I think as far as Asian grocery stores go it would be considered lower tier. Reviews aren't great but prices are low. It will be a destination given its focus so Mayfair is a good spot for it.

Hopefully the Woodward’s Food Floor is coming back soon after the renovation.

IIRC back in the day it was the first or one of few food stores to accept credit cards.

when i saw their flyers it look kind of expensive but i guess it's a grocery store for the mayfair mall area since all malls has one anchor grocery store

I see H-Mart advertises Spam .I’d like to know why it is popular in Asian food stores .  How is it used .Spam was something my mom bought because  she was a broke single parent. It was right up there with  the mystery chicken loaf sandwich meat  . I later had an elaborate habitrail hamster house for my teddy bear hamster who’s name was Spam .  Not something I’d search out to buy these days .

I know a guy that has fried spam a couple of times a week. He was a manager for Hormel, so maybe it's just brand loyalty.

Per dev tracker a development permit application has been filed for 2512-2526 Government Street in order to construct a new car dealership. Does anyone know which dealership is moving there …?

Could the Mercedes dealership next door be expanding?

Here’s a riddle: What do you get when you meld 21st Century technology with 18th Century creativity?

You get Victoria’s Puzzle Lab, of course. Located at 1322 Government St., the Puzzle Lab manufactures and sells heirloom-quality wooden jigsaw puzzles featuring the creations of nearly 50 Canadian artists.

Actually, it looks like the Volvo dealership is planning to move over to this site on Government near Bay per updated renderings on Dev Tracker. Perhaps this will free up their current location at Cook and Yates to be developed by Jawl?

I was kinda close. It is a Western European car manufacturer locating their dealership here.

It's the end of the line for The Bay in Banff.

Canadian retailer Hudson's Bay Company announced its department store at 125 Banff Ave. will shut its doors in August.

It's a decision the company said reflects its vision for the future as well as market changes.

"While these decisions are difficult, they are the right ones for our business," said Tiffany Bourré, a spokeperson for the Hudson's Bay Co., in a statement sent to CBC News.

It is a tough time for retailers and I suspect that more will go.
