Unless these new buses are running more frequently and on many more routes, I don't think the type of fuel they use is going to entice a significantly larger group of riders than currently exist.

Next up: Will eating gruel from a shiny new bowl make you more likely to enjoy it?

I didn't think anyone not taking buses now were doing so because they fundamentally opposed the drivetrain/local* pollutants.

* Have to specify, lest someone chime in with coal-fired electric plants and such.

Bicycle Brigade! We're the Judean Brigade of Bikes.  Victorian I mean.  Victorian Brigade of Bikes.

Ride or take, ride or take... You know, I think BC Transit is gonna be pissed if we just take it what with they only just got them.

^ LOL I love how they talk about it like a new and wonderful  thing, with no reference to Victoria having been doing it for years.

Yeah, decades just about (they rolled out in 2001?), and the first adopter of that style of bus in North America.

NextRide is live!

There's no link on their website and the URL you posted on the VV Facebook page is, well, let's be honest - nobody is typing that into their mobile browser's URL box while standing at a bus stop holding groceries or a baby.

And I have to say it's already an antiquated looking website.  On Launch day.

Now if I could pay for my bus with my phone, I'd be slightly more inclined to give transit a shot for the occasional pleasure trip into town.

the Transit app already seems to be updated to work with it which is far more data friendly so I hope more people use that on their phones than the website.

If you suddenly see people hauling out their 15" laptops at bus stops, you know why :D

It definitely looks dated on a regular browser, but I think it looks fine on mobile. Really, it's those icons that drag it back in time more than anything.

I've noticed it only seems to update every 1-2 minutes. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind.

Interesting. I wonder if the system is being bogged down with users starting to realize it's live. This morning it was updated very frequently.

It's also live on Google Maps

Edit: By "live" I mean integrated, not updated in real time
