No, no discount. Some wineries that were allowed to sell direct had “hospitality” or “by the glass” pricing but that was the exception not the rule.

Matt.

Sales reps do give kick backs in the form of prizes etc though based on amounts purchased... Right?

The Government of British Columbia has announced that temporary legislation implemented last year to allow bars and restaurants to sell alcohol for take-out and delivery has become permanent.

First introduced as part of a wave of changes to help businesses in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the law was originally to be in effect until July 15th, 2020, and was extended three times before becoming permanent.

Under the legislation, licensed establishments are allowed to “sell and deliver sealed, packaged liquor products for off-site consumption with the purchase of a meal for takeout or delivery.” Anyone who delivers alcohol on behalf of licensees is required to have Serving It Right certification.

St Paddys day (next Wednesday) alcohol served upto 8 pm only.

Start earlier would be my advice to those who wish to celebrate.

They can only serve until 8 but you can order a tabletop full of booze just before then to last through the evening right?

Nope.

  • Liquor sales for onsite and off-site consumption must cease between 8:00 pm on March 17, 2021 and 9:00 am on March 18, 2021
  • Unless a full meal service is provided, premises which are licensed to serve liquor must close between 9:00 pm on March 17 and 9:00 am on March 18
  • If a full meal service is provided, premises may stay open, but liquor service must not resume until 9:00 am the following day
  • Liquor must not be consumed on the premises by any person, including patrons, owners, operators, or staff after 9:00 pm on March 17

Yet another rule being instituted to protect us from COVID  :whyme:

Dr. Bonnie Henry announced additional restrictions for liquor and food primaries on St. Patrick’s Day:

I've never "celebrated" St. Patrick's Day, but OMG what a nanny state we've become.

No of course not. Drinks off the tables by 9.
And of course the limits on service as per usual.

I heard of a young lad who bought one of those to drink booze Downtown on Canada Day. Problem was he failed Physics and filled it with rum and coke, not realizing the inevitable effects and the contents exploded on him.

And the best part is, our health experts see no problem with thousands of Mr. Rum & Cokes hanging around together at every square inch of available booze serving real-estate in a downtown area and points in all directions, during a deadly global pandemic. So long as booze isn’t sold past 8PM.

But cousin Don and his kids can’t come over for a barbecue, because, you know, danger.

Liquor stores in B.C. can continue to open early in the morning, even after the COVID-19 pandemic winds down.

In April 2020, the province allowed liquor stores to open at 7 a.m. amid the early days of the pandemic. The move was intended to allow seniors and immunocompromised people to access liquor stores before busier peak hours, and to reduce traffic overall.

The extended hours were set to expire today, June 30. However, the province says it is now making the extended hours permanent, after reviewing feedback from the industry.

I had never heard of this. Were any of the Victoria liquor stores open that early?

Just because someone is buying booze at 7 am doesn't mean they are drinking at 7 am. Could just fit in to the schedule of their day.
