I'm surprised this ad would have been all the way back in 1912. For that area I would have thought no earlier than the 1920s and probably a bit later still. Considering the year, methinks the view "of the nearby city" was being exaggerated a tad. I suppose a keen eye might have been able to see the legislature dome, the Empress Hotel roofline, and maybe a church spire or two. But it would still be another ~50 years before there were any tall buildings to be seen in James Bay. Even the Ogden Point breakwater and grain elevators hadn't been built yet. Also note that optimistic reference to imminent ferry service.
