Japanese Village was a funeral place I believe too, no one has problems eating there.

Yeah, you can never get the smell of formaldehyde out of the place.

Check for skeletons in the closet, too.

There was a crew on site today doing some drilling/soil testing. Always exciting to see activity on an approved development site!

The drilling occurred all day... from early morning to the end of my work day. Lots of different location in that parking lot were drilled.

If the site conditions here are similar to Legato (mush on the east side, rock on the west), then 989 is in for a bumpy ride at least until it reaches grade.

Is someone able to provide an aerial of the actual site?

Great full page picture of this building in the Times Colonist this morning. I love this building ... Wow, what an exciting time we are in right now. The city feels so alive with all the construction going on. I live in the western communities and it's as exciting with development there as well ... ...

Marketing has started with a sign on the property and an ad in the T-C. The website is up too: http://989victoria.com

I noticed a large mobile crane on the site today. Perhaps taking "view" shots for the sales website (http://989victoria.com/#989)?

I saw a surveyor at the corner of Johnson & Vancouver yesterday, presumably doing something related to this project.

Ok, so asking those in the know..

  1. How do they plan to excavate this site with the hole right across at Legato?
  2. I assume they will avoid that section until it's above ground?
  3. How much coordination will there be between the two sites; for example, when blasting on Johnson will the Legato crew have to stand down?  Will they be compensated for the disruption in their work day, or as Todd Bertuzzi would say, It is what it is?
