Is the anti vaxxer pulling the slate down
Sure hope so. I was happy to see the word get out about this and lots of people saying they would eschew the entire slate if they're ok with that.

I know lots of people that voted for Ian Jessop

The good news is that Saanich got 4 NEW Council members. That is a positive thing. Unfortunately The new Mayor will not bring Saanich in the correct direction.

I don't know a single person who did, and I talk shop with many people, and when they heard anti vaxx, that was game over for Fascists for Saanich.

I wish Burton had gotten in along with Harper. Just too many candidates. Would have helped balance it a bit, it has swung considerably too progressive, IMO. Will certainly be interesting for Taylor and de Vries, young guys.

Only Karen Harper survived that toxic slate.
Nice results! Almost everyone very pro-affordable housing. Hope to see more supply being approved in Saanich in the next few years.

I’d say saanich just moved backward on residential building
Not according to these rankings: http://citiesforever...bility-ratings/
Everyone elected has pro-affordable housing and pro-infill housing policies except for Karen Harper.
Of course that depends on whether they actually hold their promises. But Saanich has been an embarrassing laggard on development so kicking out many incumbents is certainly a good start to changing something.

That's the thing.........what they consider "affordable housing" isn't affordable. It's $1400 for a one bedroom etc.

Didn't a massive development of affordable housing just get approved? I don't think Saanich had an issue with this the last 4 years.
That said, I do want to see a lot of infill happening. Not affordable housing per se but target that issue by fast tracking developments and incentivizing density. Build the Uptown core up, densify McKenzie, ditto for Quadra... So many busy streets with old junky SFH's or empty land... waste of space.

^ better for business probably. I doubt they'd be better for developments though; mainly why I only voted for part of the slate.

Yeah I hope they get creative about fasttracking and rezoning some areas. The only risk is if they bring back some kind of EDPA nonsense that blocks development.

Thats probably the first thing they will do, unfortunately. Grr.

Fascists? What the hell are you on about?
I'll retract it rather than defend.
