That’s interesting that her kids each go to school at different Colwood schools. Maybe she can teach them how to take the bus?

"leave now" (7:33 AM) from a random point on Otter Road to the first Colwood school I saw (Wishart Elementary) has the kids arrive at 10:04. The 63 they would be on (starts at 8:13) is the first of the day. Even if they went to a school in Sooke they wouldn't make it. She also wouldn't make it so unless they live along the 61/65 or 64 routes Transit isn't an option regardless (living on the 64 would be possible to get to Wishart elementary leaving on the 6:47 trip.)

Self-driving cars can't come soon enough.

It's awful.

People living outside of the immediate core of the region have no idea how bad transit services are.

Maybe they could have used some of the $400MM they are paying out to drivers to improve transit instead.

Victoria Police say officers’ presence at the convoy protests resulted in $385,947.25 of overtime costs for the nine weeks of protest at the B.C. Legislature.

Between January and April 2022, a group attended the legislature to protest the COVID-19 restrictions.

The group of old-growth protesters who have previously been blocking highways changed tactics Wednesday by dumping manure in front of Premier John Horgan’s MLA constituency office.

Save Old Growth says members chose to dump manure at Horgan’s Langford office because of the NDP government’s inaction to protect old-growth forests.

“The NDP Horgan government doesn’t seem to give a s**t about following through on their promises to protect old growth, so we gave him some,” Sophia Papp, a spokesperson for the group, said in a statement.

I get the joke but there should also be some panels where wide two-way streets were converted into four+ lanes, and then made one-way, and then converted back to two lanes, etc. The recent changes don't tell the entire history, is my point. No doubt there will be plenty more to come.

Opinion: This is why downtown Victoria traffic is ‘bloody painful’

But are Victoria drivers actually spoiled compared to other areas?

So I've been thinking, why is the Old Island Highway/Sooke Road from Veterans through to the TCH not operated as a counter-flow in the AM? I realize there are a couple of turning lanes, but we have such a huge imbalance right now, with little traffic heading west, a massive load of traffic heading east:

Data shows how much time Canadians spent in rush hour traffic in 2022
https://www.cbc.ca/n...-2022-1.6755102

Andy Marchant, TomTom's global product marketing lead, said the travel times for Canada's biggest cities "aren't that bad" compared to European cities in the report, but noted the times have gotten worse compared to the previous year.

Well hold on a sec. Don’t Europeans have rail, bikes, trams excellent buses and amazing pedestrian infrastructure? But they’re also more stuck in traffic than we are?

Think how much worse it would be without effective mass transit.

Think of all the cars, though. Europe isn't supposed to be so car-loving, we are told.

Can’t see the bike lanes due to the forest of cars.
