That explains why the #2 bus came up Vancouver Street to pick me up at Johnson and Vancouver today.

I am surprised there is enough left of Vancouver Street for a bus to navigate.

Dkuitu, you want to give us some insight as to what’s happening at the construction site?

Maybe snap some shots

I wasn't around for that, but I hear it was a supposed gas leak. Workers were reporting burning sensation so HAZMAT showed up and tested. No gas leak was found.

Wasn’t there an incident of this type before, like within the last several years?

Know it all.

The massing of this building is pretty good. Another 5 floors and it would have been even better.

So now with Ming's gone and the inevitable redevelopment of the Floyd's/dry cleaners block this corner has real potential. I still think the Big-O lot needs to be consolidated with the Ming's property to realize the best result.

Here's an angle that hasn't really been posted. This should give an idea of what part of the tower will look like.

It really hasn't changed since last update. I'm waiting for the crane to come down and the ped walkway to open up for the next shot.

While I agree the Mings/Big-O site and everything on the west side of this block of Quadra are currently pretty bleak, they a offer a lot of potential for future development.

You can't really make it out from the pictures, but the details of the brickwork on the podium that is visible beneath the scaffolding look really good so far. More depth and texture than pretty much any modern development downtown that I can think of (still not as much as most of the old buildings in Old Town but much more than anything recent). I think the podium will look gorgeous when finished.

What's the potential for the Ming's lot? Even with the Big O Tires lot it would be pretty small.

With Big O Tires, it would be about the same size at the lots for this building, or others like 834 Johnson or The Juliet.
