What if he's desperate? Is hamburglary really burglary at all in that case? We assume he's going to sell those stolen acquired sandwiches so that he can buy food, right?

Edit: I was wondering if I had imagined it, that the hamburglar's motivation for stealing acquiring the burgers was never made explicitly clear. But no, apparently my recollection was correct. We know he wants to steal acquire them, but we never know for certain if he wants to eat them.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking this has the potential to turn into the most heated and divisive argument that we've ever seen on VV.

Is this an actual promo? I'm sure McDonald's won't take too kindly to the province labeling one of their characters as a drug user.

What's worse stigma, drug user, or burglar?

I know about a few people--friends of friends--that do hard drugs occasionally. They would be offended if you lumped them in with the hardcore street users. They justify their use saying, "only on weekends, or special occasions and I pay my guy extra to get the "clean" stuff".As you know from the news these people sometimes die. But if you saw them you would not guess they sometimes do hard drugs.

They shouldn't be "offended" because of consequences.  If there is an epidemic of death from drugs, and you still do hard drugs, I quite frankly don't see a differentiation between "hardcore street user" and "hardcore home fun user".

From an BC Gov ad perspective; We are informed.  Don't "uninform" us.

On the plus side 2 of the 3 incidents happened less than 2 blocks apart.

But NO ONE would ever suggest making changes to how/when welfare payments are distributed.

It's either six or seven — Nicole Boone can't remember exactly how many times she has overdosed.

"You wake up and you're terrified because you've been told you almost died, and then your first thought is, 'I need to get out of hospital because I need to use again,'" the 24-year-old said.

"That's how powerful the addiction is. Your life doesn't really matter."

Boone is an intravenous drug user in the throes of addiction.

She is one of about 50 to 70 on Bell Island in Conception Bay, according to volunteers running a new clean needle exchange out of an old RV.

Boone and her boyfriend, Jeff Lahey, are waiting for suboxone — a medication used to wean addicts off narcotics.

They've tried it and say it works, but neither suboxone nor methadone are available on Bell Island. Users have to take the ferry into Portugal Cove-St. Philips every day.

"I couldn't keep up with transportation costs," Lahey said about the last time he tried getting sober.

"I've got no choice but to use street drugs. I can't afford to get back and forth to town to get suboxone."

They both want the medication to be available on Bell Island. They say proximity will help in their fight to get clean.

Now, I do not quite understand here.  You have a 24 and 34-year-old couple, existinging just for the purpose of doing drugs.

Seems to me their using their location as an excuse. Move to the mainland if you're serious about getting clean and the solution to helping with that is there.

A "mental health" incident took place on upper Fort Street this morning.

A large Victoria police presence at a Fort Street apartment building around 11 a.m. Friday was said to be the result of an apparent mental health case. Outside the Sarona Apartments at 1471-1475 Fort St., Sgt. Louise Neil told the News that a person had “left the building, but not through the door.”...

I just witnessed 4-5 officers "subdue" a person - clearly not in his right mind - and escort him away in 1 of the 3 cruisers that were parked by the building across the street from mine. The crazy seems to be striking close to me on several fronts this week.

Another person gets pricked by a discarded (or deliberately placed) used needle...
« “Patrol officers are reminding the public to know this risk is now in our community and to not place one’s hands where one’s eyes haven’t been,” Victoria police said in a statement. “A visual inspection of a hollow space may save you from injury.”«

700 block of Yates.
Vic News reported it too.
