.....According to a new report, Oak Bay Police experienced a 300 per cent increase in domestic disputes calls, and a 50 per cent increase in assault calls, compared to the same time period last year.
Additionally, auto theft calls were up 145 per cent while marine theft calls were up 33 per cent.
Although there was a spike in those types of crimes between March 1 and May 11, the department saw a decrease in calls for other types of crimes during the same period.
Sexual assault calls were down 100 per cent...

This morning they tweeted: Respectfully, when comparing low raw #'s a few more can appear like huge percentage spikes. #OakBay had 8 domestic disputes since March 1st and three of those were at the same house. Two were between parents & their kids. Context is VERY important. Sorry but #NothingToSeeHere

As far as I know it’s only been three children? As far as I know no children have gone at their parents?is somehow parent - kid domestics that escalate to police presence less serious? a lot of kids have been killed by their parents and parents killed by their kids in oak bay in the last 15 years. at least 5 I can think of.
