I wonder where else they forgot to use rebar.

Presumably, a thorough inspection of all the concrete poured before the incident with the stairs, has now taken place.

Nope. From the report I have read WorkSafe only made them scan the stairs, nothing else. This is evident from street level as you can see where they spray painted the stairs to confirm the rebar. I think it’s crazy that they weren’t forced to do inspections for all structural concrete considering they somehow managed to pour concrete without any rebar in the stairs.

Hopefully EGBC will bring more heat and inspections down on them.

If I were a buyer in this project, it would definitely concern me if no additional concrete inspections are done.

It appears (from my limited understanding) that there were corrections performed to deficiencies that were discovered after the stair collapse and inspections by an engineering firm. From what I have read it’s been properly addressed and shouldn’t be a cause for concern moving forward. I’ll give credit where it’s due, it appears they’ve taken it seriously.

The paperwork points towards issues with the hired sub-trades as opposed to Lexi themselves. Obviously not a situation that anyone wanted as I’m sure it was costly to have the deficiencies addressed and work paused.

Progress still seems slow, I don’t think there’s been any work on the townhouse side for roughly a month? Not really sure what the deal is. It will be nice to see the fill in/out progress and the final vision take shape!

Tower is topped out, they are making slow progress on the townhouse side - it’s almost level with the lower parking as of today. Not sure what happened to the rooftop event they had promised online, getting late in the year at this point to host anything outside.

I’d be surprised at this point if we will even see possession by March, I can’t see that much work happening in less than six months at this rate.

Very surprised to see a massive mobile crane parked on Head street today, according to a worker they are pulling down the crane. I’m surprised it’s coming down at this point, townhouses are nowhere near done and the main structure is still a long ways to go and missing lots of heavy, big pieces that will need to be lifted somehow. The worker I spoke to said it was supposed to be there for at least another three months and said it was costing too much? Seems like they will have to hire a lot of mobile cranes on a regular basis to make up for not having this one on site? Who knows…

If they can't afford the crane they need, who knows where else they will cut costs...

That was based off what the worker doing flagging told me, who knows if it’s true or not. It does seem pretty early to pull a crane off the site though considering how much still needs to be done.

Photos on Instagram the other day showed the roof being completed...they were before council last night and said it would be April/May time frame for completion.

They also asked for a couple of variances

I figured they would need/want the crane for the townhome construction, I’ve seen them using the crane to bucket in concrete in the last few weeks, I guess they will have to use a pump truck with a boom from here on. Not sure how they will unload some of the trucks either, I’ve seen them unload quite a bit with it. I guess I was just surprised to see it leave without the full structure being completed. The guy I talked to said it was needed at another site and was supposed to be around for another three months.

I’m glad you mentioned the council meeting, hadn’t seen that. It’s a bummer that it’s not wall to wall glass anymore - figured this would have been caught earlier?
