tomorrow:
Pacific FC and Dodd’s Furniture and Mattress are teaming up in an effort to give back to the community to support The Mustard Seed and the Goldstream Food Bank. Ahead of Pacific FC’s return to Westhills Stadium on October 2nd versus HFX Wanderers FC, the CPL side will offer a free ticket to the game for every two non-perishable food items donated.*

The CPL has gone “total football” in its approach, with Simpson pointing out that the winner of the regular season is crowned the English Premier League champion with no playoffs involved.
The CPL, however, has allowed for a final between its two-top teams with Cavalry FC of Calgary and Forge FC of Hamilton, Ont., meeting in the two-game set Oct. 26 and Nov 2.
The rest of the teams will play out the string, including tonight at 7 p.m. at Westhills Stadium, when the HFX Wanderers of Halifax come to the Island in the second-to-final home fixture of the season for PFC.
How far does the CPL want to take its total-football vision? The goal eventually, when there are enough teams, is to have Premier/Division 1 promotion-relegation, Simpson said.

up against the canucks opener tonight too. this league really needs to look into becoming a friday/sunday scheduled league. i know that's tough with travel. but there is already talk of reducing travel by dividing into east and west with an unbalanced schedule so that will help.

Looking pretty good I'd say for the first-year. HarbourCats averaged what, 600 per game in year one? I think they can be called a success. I know I'm a believer, but I see no reason that PFC cannot build on those numbers for year two.
And yes, I understand that a sophomore slump can be a thing, I just think that soccer fans in this city have been burned so many times before that they were reluctant to support this club whole-heartedly until the league and the club proved themselves. Seeing the owners commitment to developing youth and playing attacking soccer and building the new indoor training facility has answered any doubts.

Sorry, I used the wrong number for calculating, it was around 1400.
PFC is still beating that number in year one by a healthy margin.

Major difference between a fully professional national league and an amateur college summer regional league, though, from an operating budget perspective. PFC needs to draw better to be sustainable.

And the cats aren't flying players anywhere for games.

No argument from me on that! We should be drawing more like Halifax, a similar-sized community.

The Canadian Premier League clubs completed a nation-crossing home-and-home set that spanned Pacific to Atlantic.
Pacific FC and HFX drew 1-1 Wednesday before 6,055 fans in Halifax after playing to a 1-1 draw last week at Westhills Stadium.
With 4,476 kilometres between Victoria and Halifax, this matchup constitutes the third-longest trip in the world between pro domestic league Premiership soccer clubs.

It is played in the city, just not your city. It's in the city where people want to live rather than escape.
