Ask the guy above who’s worried about spreading drivel. He knows what’s going on. So does Jake from Canada (the issue is parking maximums, not minimums, though).

Know it all.

Very interesting. What’s the process here?

Are they asking for something? Will there be a vote?

Any idea what Starlight may be proposing/requesting in light of council's questionable demand to reduce parking?

They will likely be addressing council on the matter of their maximum parking ratio demand not being feasible, and proposing a different (higher) ratio.

According to Adam, this is exactly what they are going to be asking for.

This will be really interesting. The TV school of activism demands that you never back down, even in the face of overwhelming evidence contrary to your position! Will council do an about turn here, will they try and negotiate even harder now to make their point, or will they smell blood in the water and think that they will force Starlight to sell?

They won’t be asking for anything, as I understand it.

They will be citing the city’s own bylaws.

They are asking the City to abide by its on bylaws!

In an event, the challenge for council is still the same. In addition, being required to follow its own bylaws would severely limit council's power in the future!

Maybe we can start a whole new set of public hearing if parking as to whether parking has to be amended.

They aren’t asking, they're telling the City they intend to follow the City’s bylaws.

It doesn’t mean the City will allow them to do that, but their strategy is not what we all expected! We all expected them to come back with a counter offer. They came back with the bylaw! That’s quite brilliant.

That’s the way to do it. Create the regulations, then enforce them. But what happened to Starlight created trajectory towards chaos, where anything goes, if council so chooses.

This may be the next move by TV 2.0. Screw with us and we will speed up the timelines on emission reductions and bury you that way!

Despite previous Council direction, opportunities exist to implement the ZCSC on a more expedited schedule. Delaying this action would mean that more buildings would be built to operate on high-carbon systems, which would then be in place for decades to come. Therefore, Committee of the Whole Meeting April 6, 2023 Accelerating decarbonization of new building energy systems Page 2 of 3 bolder climate action is required to rapidly decarbonize the built environment, and ensure that the City meets its climate targets

Can someone explain how "accelerating decarbonization" in new buildings will aid in affordability? I thought we were in a housing crisis.

We have so many crisis that you can selectively pick and choose. Wait till we have to fire up the coal plants to meet all this electricity demand,
