You forgot to mention the museum.

Thanks, truckers.

In the WAC Bennett days you could post a tender and get several bids for it. Right now, due to contractor demand and supply shortages, you take what you get and be happy about it.

I’m hearing things are starting to slow down, with respect to trades. Everyone’s still busy, but their longer term outlooks are showing openings.

I'm hoping to get a largish reno done in a year or two... thats hopeful :).

Yeah, that’s going to help out for renos and the like.

I called an appliance repairman yesterday morning. Still haven’t heard back. Any service business like that is run off their feet busy.

Not via Shawnigan Lake Road? If MOTI said no detour, they were likely fibbing as that is a lower speed residential area.

Now they’re running everyone via Shawnigan, yes. It’s a real mess.

While Victorians lose sleep over people parking for free in front of their homes, the Malahat goat trail is once again clogged due to a vehicle fire on the downhill portion due to a vehicle fire. Traffic is single lane alternating.

When jalopies meet slightly warmer weather… …and your government thinks a museum is more important than adequate infrastructure.

Maybe build a jalopy museum at the top of the Malahat.

We were southbound on the Malahat Friday shortly after noon.

My gawd....the traffic headed north was hideous. Bumper to bumper crawl from the Malahat Chalet to Millstream. Tons of trailers and 5th wheels.

If you want to get out of town for a long weekend...you might want to think about leaving Wednesday.

Not everybody can "work from home" and travel early.

That’s why we left Saturday AM. But by 8AM it was already getting busy on that highway.

The Malahat was kewl in 1950. It’s a sad joke in 2022.

Shamefully, It really has turned into a daily crapshoot whether you make it up over the Malahat on any given day.

It remains absolutely amazing that the Trans Canada Highway has, by design, become that complete and total "crap shoot" as to whether you can expect to transit it!

And in our case, the Trans Canada Highway is basically the singular land route in and out of the CRD.

(The Pacific Marine Route really doesn't count, as it can't handle anything close to the traffic volumes of the Malahat, and it's also at points unusable in winter due to snow and ice.)

It’s a sketchy road, Highway 14. The whole span beyond Jordan River has to be replaced, it has lost its stability and is sinking in on itself.

The Malahat just plain sucks.

I heard it was a chicken truck.  Chickens are spread everywhere.  (I wonder if this will delay the opening of Lee's in Esquimalt?)
