Germany considers issuing thousands of people coronavirus 'immunity certificates' so they can leave the lockdown early

If the project is approved, the researchers will test 100,000 people at a time starting in early April, Der Spiegel said.

The tests are designed to detect whether a person has developed antibodies to the COVID-19 virus, indicating that they were at one time a carrier and have built up immunity. A positive test could allow the person to leave the lockdown; many positive tests could allow governments to ease restrictions in areas with "herd immunity."

This is what we need as much as the testing of those who are presently sick.

Knowing there are 60-something people who’ve tested positive on the Island is a meaningless figure, other than proving the virus has been contracted by locals abroad (mostly) or in the community.

Yes, I think so too, though I don't think we are at the point where we need this right now. We also need a way to identify those after they are confirmed immune.

This all assumes that we don't get another mutation, or see the initial version of the virus here; cross our fingers there.

trump on the very popular morning show fox and friends this morning.  he does not go to morning joe.  he does not go on new day.  why bother, those shows have terrible ratings - and dropping. instead, for maximum reach and impact and benefit to regular amarcans, he goes to the show that most americans watch each morning.

brilliant.

video:  https://video.foxnew...1#sp=watch-live

sleepy joe is likely still in bed in delaware.  delaware!  way to lead from behind joe biden.

You are good at seeing both sides of virtually any topic but your refusal to acknowledge Trump's lies, exaggerations and dangerous missteps is puzzling.

Trump accused New York of hoarding and exaggerating the need for ventilators. Dr. Fauci later said this wasn't true, saying, “Bottom line, he’s got to have the ventilators. Period.”. When asked about this discrepancy, Trump lied and denied saying it, and attacked the reporter merely for asking Trump to expand on his recorded remarks.

Mt Vernon, Washington:

With the coronavirus quickly spreading in Washington state in early March, leaders of the Skagit Valley Chorale debated whether to go ahead with weekly rehearsal.
...

On March 6, Adam Burdick, the choir’s conductor, informed the 121 members in an email that amid the “stress and strain of concerns about the virus,” practice would proceed as scheduled at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church.

...

After 2½ hours, the singers parted ways at 9 p.m.

Nearly three weeks later, 45 have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or ill with the symptoms, at least three have been hospitalized, and two are dead.

I dunno, that could be pretty stigmatizing.

“Look, he’s got the wristband! Omg, he had COVID that’s crazy. You’re filming this right?”

It would be nice if reporters pressed Trudeau to the extent they press Trump. His carbon tax address was just dreadful, and the press corp just stood there.

his claim about continuing self-isolation (because he shared a roof with sophie) is comical too.  he's going to continue to self-isolate while his previously ill wife takes the kids?!?!  come on.

media gives him a pass.

he should be at work.  like trump is every day from 5am to 11pm.  and often at 3am (based on tweets).

this almost makes it sound like we keep hospitals full on purpose to meet some type of occupancy goal.  if there is a bed available we fill it.  when it's not really necessary to have many people in hospital.

An ominous quiet has descended upon many of British Columbia’s hospitals.

Across the province, hospital wards that would normally be full to bursting have emptied, relatively speaking. Long-term patients have been shuffled out. Others have never shown up for their now-cancelled surgeries.

Usually, British Columbia’s hospitals operate beyond their capacity. Now, nearly 4,000 beds sit empty across the province.

where have long-term patients been shuffled out to?

If he’s tweeting, he’s not working.

1,080 minutes in trumps's 18-hour days.  even if he spends 5 or 10 minutes tweeting it's insignificant.

Finally some sense is emerging:

Mr Johnson has been warned by scientific advisers that China's officially declared statistics on the number of cases of coronavirus could be 'downplayed by a factor of 15 to 40 times'. And No 10 believes China is seeking to build its economic power during the pandemic with 'predatory offers of help' countries around the world.

A major review of British foreign policy has been shelved due to the Covid-19 outbreak and will not report until the impact of the virus can be assessed. A Government source close to the review said: 'It is going to be back to the diplomatic drawing board after this. Rethink is an understatement.' - https://www.dailymai...iate-No-10.html

40x would put the "81,439" cases at 3.25 million.

”Holland America Line can confirm that four older guests have passed away on Zaandam. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and we are doing everything we can to support them during this difficult time,” the cruise company said in a written statement.

The article also says the cruise line is Seattle-based. It is?

Long-term care facilities. Or facilities with temporary hospital designations. The brand new Summit at Quadra Village here in Victoria was one such facility that Adrian Dix discussed designating as hospital status so long-term patients could be moved out of Vic General, Royal Jubilee, and SPH to clear space at those hospitals.

This is a circular argument but I don't understand how folks can suggest that infection rates are orders of magnitude higher than being reported but insist that mortality rates haven't changed.

Elective surgeries have been cancelled and flu season is ending.

Lots of reports now coming out that deaths are far higher than what has been suggested in Wuhan based on cremation data.

https://www.cruisema...g-state-control

It might have a headquarters (office) in Seattle, but it is based in the Netherlands.

"Closed (national) Registries" require that a cruise ship be owned and constructed by national interests and to be fully or partially crewed by its citizens. This usually increases the ship's construction and operating costs. Italy and the Netherlands are two of the national registries featuring big cruise ships owned by some of the world's biggest cruise companies, like Holland America, Costa, and AIDA.
