It's also incorrect.  Not all of those people are Jewish. For example, Xavier Becerra is of Mexican descent and is a catholic.

It's propaganda on multiple levels. Words have power. This poster is published to propagandize that anyone speaking out against the measures is to be associated with this. Then on another level it plants seeds of hatred in general. This in a very obvious way. Not obtuse at all. I'm all for hating on Black Rock but not for a type of people... But I'm all for freedom of speech so I think you should be free to delete my posts but keep that up for all the kids to see!

Those 10 states are the some of the countries leaders in cases per population...  Hanging on to herd immunity I suppose.  Schlep's a hero... LOL.. I'm not sure I would call it quite devastating... Pretty small states for the most part..  Hardly news actually.

The European Union has recorded at least 44 confirmed cases of the omicron variant in 11 countries, but so far all of those are asymptomatic or people with mild symptoms, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

“So far, no severe cases or deaths have been reported among these cases,” the ECDC said Tuesday in an update on the variant, based on information from public sources.

Elise Cote was holding back tears Monday as her seven-year-old son Milo got his first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at University Heights mall in Saanich.

“I have honestly been crying happy relief tears on and off ever since getting the text of the appointment,” said Cote. “It’s like this huge pressure relief after almost two years now of worry.”

Unvaccinated travellers over the age of 12 won't be able to board a plane or train in Canada beginning today, and a negative COVID-19 test will no longer serve as a substitute for most people.

The policy came into effect on Oct. 30, but the federal government allowed a short transition period for unvaccinated travellers who could board as long as they provided a negative molecular COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours before their trip.

The stringent new requirement comes into effect as Canada reacts to the emergence of the new, highly mutated omicron variant of the coronavirus.

The discovery of the new variant has prompted border closures and heavier screening in Canada and abroad over fears it could prove more transmissible.

The risk related to the omicron variant is very high, according to the World Health Organization, but there is still a lot public health officials and scientists do not know about it.

While anyone coming into Canada or boarding a plane or train inside the country must be vaccinated, there are currently no quarantine measures in place except for people who have recently transited through southern Africa.

While many airlines have so far been doing random spot checks to ensure travellers are vaccinated, Air Canada and WestJet have confirmed they will ask for proof from everyone boarding in Canada as of today.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says it has intercepted hundreds of suspected fake COVID-19 test results and vaccination records from people trying to enter the country.

As of Oct. 31, border officials had encountered 374 suspected falsified COVID-19 test results at ports of entry — 160 at airports and 187 at land crossings — and intercepted 92 suspected fake proof-of-vaccination credentials, a spokesperson for the agency told CBC.

The agency did not provide a breakdown of the cases, the specific ports of entry or the possible countries of origin of the fraudulent documents.

Because they have right of entry, Canadians who enter with fake COVID-19-related records are still allowed into the country, but border officials then pass on their information to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), which has ability to investigate and issue fines. Non-Canadians could be denied entry.

A number of cases are being investigated by PHAC, which issued seven fines for suspected falsified or fraudulent COVID-19 test results between Jan. 6 to Nov. 12, that agency said. PHAC said it also issued two fines for suspected falsified or fraudulent proof of vaccination credentials between July 6 and Nov. 12.

A new programme of work led by the University of Liverpool is seeking to understand the very rare, but very serious, condition of blood clotting with low platelets in the general population, in COVID-19 infection, and potentially following vaccination.

https://www.eurekale...releases/936168

Essentially, Simpson's Paradox can arise when observing a feature of a broad, widely drawn group, where there is an uneven distribution of the population within this group, for example by age or vaccination status. Ignorance of the implications of Simpson's Paradox can generate misleading conclusions, which can be, and in this case are, very dangerous.

The paradox in these particular ONS statistics arises specifically because death rates increase dramatically with age, so that at the very top end of this age band, for example, mortality rates are about 80 times as high as at the very bottom end. A similar pattern is observed between vaccination rates and age. For example, in the 10 to 59 data set more than half of those vaccinated are over the age of 40.

Those who are in the upper ranges of the wide 10 to 59 age band are, therefore, both more likely to have been vaccinated and also more likely to die if infected with COVID-19 or for any other reason, and vice versa. Age is acting, in the terminology of statistics, as a confounding variable, being positively related to both vaccination rates and death rates.

Put another way, you are more likely to die in a given period if you are older and you are also more likely to be vaccinated if you are older. It is age that is driving up death rates not the vaccinations. Without the vaccinations, deaths would be hugely greater from COVID-19.

So what if we divide the 10 to 59 group into smaller age groups? If we break down the band into narrower age ranges, such as 10 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 to 59, we find that the counter-intuitive headline finding immediately disappears. In each age band, the death rates of the vaccinated are vastly lower than those of the unvaccinated. This also applies in the higher age bands—60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 plus.

Basically, unvaccinated people are much younger on average, and therefore less likely to die.

wikipedia also has a good article on it: https://en.wikipedia...mpson's_paradox

A research team headed by Prof. Pär Johansson from the Department of Clinical Immunology at Rigshospitalet has investigated whether treatment with prostacyclin can help patients by reducing damage to the endothelial cells, which lines the inside of all blood vessels. A total of 80 patients in intensive-care departments in the Capital Region of Denmark were included in the trial: half received the medicine, while the other half - the control group - received normal saline.

Patients who received three days’ treatment with prostacyclin had overall significantly less damage to their vital organs during their stay in the intensive-care department. Furthermore, mortality was halved from 44% for the control group to 22% for the group receiving prostacyclin. The results for mortality are not, however, statistically significant, as this was a study of limited size.

"We found that the patients who had received prostacyclin overall had better organ function and better chances of survival. There are still many Covid-19 patients at intensive care departments around the world and we are very pleased that now it seems there’s possibly a better treatment option,” said Pär Johansson.

The sudden emergence of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is adding pressure on vaccine makers to ensure their shots are available worldwide, but it remains unclear whether the companies will provide the intellectual know-how and technology that could help boost global production.

After the coronavirus appeared last year, wealthy nations quickly snapped up supplies by signing lucrative contracts and, in some cases, providing development funding to manufacturers. By doing so, however, a wide gulf opened up between rich and poor countries, leading to warnings that “vaccine inequity” would come back to haunt the world if large swaths of humanity remained unvaccinated.

The Omicron variant is a “We told you so” moment.

As vaccine makers scramble to determine whether their existing shots will be useful against the variant or whether they may need to be retooled, public health advocates are redoubling calls for the World Trade Organization to adopt a proposal made more than a year ago to temporarily waive intellectual property rights so other companies can also produce vaccines.

“The emergence of the Omicron variant tells us what leaders have been saying but have failed to act upon: that no one is safe until we all are,” said Ellen ‘t Hoen, a senior researcher in the global health unit at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and a former executive director of the Medicines Patent Pool, which works with drug makers to license medicines in low-income countries.

“Vaccine nationalism, hoarding of vaccines and the knowledge needed to produce them will perpetuate the situation. Companies are now working on adjusting vaccines so they become Omicron-specific. The destination of the first batches of these vaccines should be Africa. The IP waiver should be adopted but accompanied by commitments to also make tech transfer happen.”

Africa is of particular concern because just 6% of the 1.2 billion people on the continent have been inoculated, and the Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa. So far, roughly 44% of Covid-19 vaccine doses have gone to wealthy nations, and nearly the entire African continent remains uncovered by contracts that would provide doses, according to the Duke Global Health Innovation Center.

The Swedish government's rescue package of $4.2 billion to help businesses during the pandemic has been hailed as the single largest investment in Swedish history. However, a subsequent review has identified numerous instances of the help landing in the wrong, and potentially dangerous, hands.

A joint investigation by the newspaper Expressen and Acta Publica has found gross abuse of the COVID-19 support administered by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

The review indicated about 150 entrepreneurs who in various ways can be linked to organised crime or criminal gangs. Among others, terror financiers, Islamists, neo-Nazis and motorcycle gangs have received state support to the tune of hundreds of thousands of kronor.

One particular case involves an exchange office in Stockholm, which was suspected by the police to have been used to launder hundreds of millions of kronor in drug money. During a police raid, over ten million kronor (about $1 million) in cash was found on the premises.

The Auschwitz Memorial slammed the Fox Nation host Lara Logan after she compared White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci to the infamous Nazi doctor Josef Mengele.

Logan said during a Monday segment of "Fox News Primetime": "This is what people say to me, that he doesn't represent science to them. He represents Joseph Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps. And I am talking about people all across the world are saying this."

The Auschwitz Memorial's official Twitter account wrote in response: "Exploiting the tragedy of people who became victims of criminal pseudo-medical experiments in Auschwitz in a debate about vaccines, pandemic, and people who fight for saving human lives is shameful."

"It is disrespectful to victims & a sad symptom of moral and intellectual decline."

Look at cases, not deaths. More than 20% are under 19. Maybe parents want kids vaccinated so they're less likely to bring the virus home, or pass it on to teachers, grandparents, daycare workers, etc.

Seems less likely....  Also suggests vaccinated clears the infection sooner meaning less spread...

The results suggest even those who are fully vaccinated have a sizeable risk of becoming infected, with analysis revealing a fully vaccinated contact has a 25% chance of catching the virus from an infected household member while an unvaccinated contact has a 38% chance of becoming infected.

Well I just read the article, plus it seams reasonable that if you have the virus for less time you would spread it less...

I didn't say toxic rhetoric, just not that big of a deal...  20% of the states, maybe 1% of the population?  I didn't take the time to add it up but, it's very paltry... Plus political decision vs peoples health considerations...
