Meth is ok because of potential stigmatizing. Beer, bad.

The International Ice Hockey Federation has cancelled the remainder of the 2022 World Juniors amid rising COVID-19 case counts that prompted three games to be forfeited.

No official announcement has yet been made, but the IIHF is expected to hold a news conference later on Wednesday.

Daily Faceoff's Chris Peters and TSN's Bob McKenzie were first to report the cancellation.

It comes after teams from the United States, Russia and Czechia all had to forfeit games over the last two days due to positive tests within their teams.

It ends in 2022, no?  ie. the champion is crowed well into 2022.

^ My goodness, you can find cops walking by people openly using and dealing meth or crack so I hope that they wouldn't harass someone for drinking a beer.

I do this a lot actually. My friend and I were asked to pour out our beers by a cop in August while sitting on one of the benches on wharf street across from bastion square. The lineup at the Local was too long to wait.

Las Vegas isn’t canceling or scaling back plans for New Year’s Eve gatherings.

More than 300,000 visitors are expected in town for events including a New Year’s Eve fireworks show on the Las Vegas Strip that was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of ticketholders also are expected at a multi-stage outdoor music event beneath a canopy light show at the downtown casino pedestrian mall.

In announcing Wednesday that the show will go on, Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft said: “If you’re sick, stay at home. If you’re indoors, wear a mask.”

Las Vegas regional health officials reported 2,201 new coronavirus cases — the most in one day since last Jan. 11. New cases and deaths in Las Vegas have been trending up.

^ Probably not a bad idea. 300,000+ people are infected with omicron, are feeling better 5 days later and they contribute to herd immunity!

That’s why you need a back-up: a joint to spark up as you’re pouring your beer down the drain.

What a crazy city we live in.

Crack pipe or syringe is even safer not to be confiscated…

I was gonna use the empty can as a crack pipe, but the cops ruined the vibe.

Paid sick leave is now in place in BC.

https://www2.gov.bc....paid-sick-leave

Does anyone know exactly how it works especially for part time workers?

ie. If my part-time employee calls in sick, do I automatically pay them for their missed shift, the first 5 times each year they call in? Or do one of us have to “declare” it a paid sick day?

Yeah it's weird one for part time workers. Someone who works 1X 8 hour shift a week can get 40 hours PTO, but they only get paid for scheduled days they've missed and you are allowed to ask for proof.  If someone has 3 part time jobs, one shift per week at each, they get 15 days per year at full regular daily pay.  :)

I just wonder if the employee can “opt put” of sick pay. If they call in sick for a 4 hour shift, will that one count? Or can they “save it up” to call in sick for longer shifts?

^ Sick and holiday pay are generally calculated by the hour. You don't lose a day's vacation or sick time if you take an hour off.

But if you call in sick for five 4-hour shifts (and get paid for 20 hours), are you done for you sick days for the year?

What if Kelly works at a restaurant and calls in and says "I'm not feeling 100% today, but I talked to Tracy, and she is willing to cover my shift.  Then I'll take her shift next Tuesday, since she has an exam to study for that day".  And the employer agrees.

Does the employer still pay Kelly for today's missed shift (and count it against her 5 yearly sicks days)?

^ Hmmm. If you do the math that would be implying that about 1M people would get sick over the course of a week (or about 150K a day) assuming the average time of work due to covid is a week.

If we assume that about 1/3 people who contract covid get sick enough to avoid going to work (or even know they are infected) then that would mean almost the entire population will get covid in a week!

Makes no sense but sounds good in scaring people!

Quotes have a funny way of being extrapolated..  A potential of up to one third for some businesses doesn't mean the province...  Just to illustrate the potential if people are working in close proximity I suppose.  Not everything is nefarious.  Feel kind of sorry for some living with this mind set.
