Linkages between ownership and social status are becoming unstable.

Ownership could be displaced or augmented by access to service.

Social credit may become a more powerful determinent of socio-economic inclusion.

What is this you says?

"Canada 150 gave us a chance to reflect on the road we have been on for 150 years while at the same time, it gave us a chance to think about the road that lies ahead for the next 150 years. It was an exercise of reflection, of renewal and of recommitment, especially to the values that drive us in supporting the democratic governments and legislatures that Canadians choose for themselves, operating in the public interest and serving Canadians. Today, these are things which can no longer be taken for granted in our world and in Canada.

So an exercise like today is a really important one. I am sure we are going to hear, shortly, about some very important issues that face us as a country and a society, which you are exploring as part of the journey you have been on together.

The challenge of reconciliation, what is a feminist government, a more open and transparent government, sustainable development, socioeconomic inclusion: these are the themes which shape policy and political debates in Canada and you will hear a lot of different visions of how to pursue these issues in next year’s election."

When I read BS like that I am happy to realize I am likely in the final third of my life.

I’m putting this into the federal thread as it’s a federal issues.

The Supreme Court of Canada is at the root of so many of our social issues today, from catch and release, weak sentencing, drug consumption sites, and more. Well worth the read.

I'd love to hear a lawyer's response to that article.  It's an odd one.

The Trudeau government has awarded consultancy McKinsey $66 million since getting into power. Now all three opposition parties want to know what the money was spent on.

“It’s time for Canadians to get answers. We need to know what this money was for, what influence McKinsey has had in our government. And it is time for Canadian taxpayers to have answers to these questions,” Poilievre told reporters from the parliamentary press gallery.

“Everything that the government has done with the company since taking office should be made public so that we can study all of these facts and hold the government accountable,” he added.

The Bloc Quebecois and the NDP have confirmed they will support the Conservative motion, ensuring enough votes to pass it.

Like the NDP care. They will accept anything Trudeau does as long as it allows them to co-govern.

I think psychology is a pseudo-science anyway, but I do think that counselling has a great placebo effect.  If you feel better going to a therapist, then it "works".

If Bernier is at the front of a protest, I want to be as far away as I can be from there.

If I were a doctor, or a member of some other self-regulating profession, I wouldn't want ANY politician interfering at all. That's how you lose your self-governing status.

That is why there is a recall campaign on David Eby. For Bill 36. They pushed through a bill that does exactly this....

Jack Mintz: Federal employment growth is now out of hand

Rate of jobs growth more than three times greater than in private sector

https://financialpos...obox=1673544201

Since 2015, the number of federal, provincial and local employees has grown by 18.5 per cent, twice as fast as in the private sector, where employment growth was 9.0 per cent. What is less appreciated is the over-the-top employment growth in federal departments and agencies. There were 336,000 federal government employees in 2022, up from 257,000 in 2015 — a 30.7 per cent increase.
