Anyone try out the apple lens thing yet? It’s way more than I’d spend on it, but even just the demo was pretty cool.

Like what you saw in Minority Report, which is what I said to the Apple Store worker, who of course was far too young to have ever heard of that classic film.

Apple really needs to update Siri. She is nearly useless as a personal assistant unless you use the exact wording she knows for the 3-5 tasks she can actually perform.

The dreaded “you’ll have to unlock your iPhone” when you’re using Siri because your hands are full…

Know it all.

Yes. I often use my AirPods. I’d really like to tell Siri: go into my work email, find the most recent email from Bob Jones. Write a reply to him saying thanks and I’ll take a look at that.
Then scan vibrant Victoria for any replies to my posts, and notify me if any there are any buzzing threads that might be of interest to me.

Surely the tech is there to do that kinda stuff now, isn’t it?

Agents are around the corner. The gpt voice interface is very good. But the danger is evident. Was at a friends place having pizza with his kids and asked it what AI was. Interrupted it mid sentence and said describe it for kids. Then, instead of simplifying it, it started saying it’s like your friend who can tell you….. I interpreted it and said it’s not your friend. It’s a toaster. Then it said it sounds like there are some energetic conversations going on and maybe it should leave…. In its best Scarlet sad voice. It was very realistic, quick, and accurate to to context of anything thrown at it. It doing tasks so I can spend more time with friends sounds good. Not doing tasks so I can be friends with it doesn’t.

I pretty much agree dasmo. It’s a tool, and like any tool, it only works for you if you know how to use it.

They did :). But, you need Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Max Pro, or a iPhone 16).

Darn, I just missed it then.
Is it any good? Like, is it useful for executing commands on your phone intelligently? That’s what I really want - an AI that can access and use my apps for me when I give it voice directions.

I don’t doubt it. But…. Looking at the video from the recent event and considering the fact he lied then about the verbal interactions with the bots actually being with remote people…. How do we know that’s not AI over rendering? Lots of vids like that floating around right now. There is A LOT of excess human like movement going on in that vid. Way beyond the movement of a robot.
So it’s either fake or insane.
