That list has one thing/company that most people would not recognize compared to the rest. Palantir. Odd inclusion.

Over the last few years he has leaned heavily into machine learning and AI. I convinced my robotics and mechatronics student son to take in the last one, and I’ll be checking out the next one.
Take a peek.

^ That's cool. Lots of talent there for a cheap price. I got a kick out of the web page where every once in a while one of those light beams almost hits you. Your friend Kris looks like quite the character.

It’s also interesting to see an artist of that calibre lean so heavily into machine learning and AI, since it seems like the general consensus is to shun it.
I’ll go over for a couple nights, collect the kid from school, check out Van Dusen gardens, have a couple nice meals…. Easy to kill a couple of days during Christmas in Vancouver.

Do these data centres actually have to be so centralized?
Can't you put them on top of shopping malls or factories and pump the excess heat into the building for, well, heating?

Centralization of data centres = efficiency. They still require a lot of maintenance, significant HVAC, physical security (this would be a big reason not to decentralize them!), power...

Does Kevin have a good history with completion of his many projects?
Many countries require data on their citizens to be kept within their country. One reason for the need for multiple data centers.

Nothing gets more press, or generates more discussion than a few hundred dollars worth of fabricated renders, usually of a project lacking in funding, and as a stand-alone project is essentially nothing more than the very renders themselves, the ones that people are actually gazing at!
Once you get really good at it, you can re-use different elements of each render, and start cranking them out for mere pennies - you literally don't need anything else - you don't even need an actual project - just the renders!

No need to re-use. Just use the other guys data center to generate infinite renders of your data center...

This will be interesting if it sees the light of day. Wonder who the cloud provider will be if the project actually comes to fruition. Data and data center residency specifically is one thing. Data sovereignty is a whole other kettle of fish. If the cloud provider turns out to be a US-based entity I suggest O'Leary & Co become very familiar with the 2018 Cloud Act. Rapidly.

Vibrant Victoria needs a sovereign data center!

^ I presume you know the difference then between resident and sovereign data? Because the US Congress certainly did, China most certainly does and you can bet every single intelligence agency worth its salt does too.

You're not one of those sovereign, freemen of the land are you?

It’s a law without real teeth when people implement the right controls. Ensure your data is encrypted and only you have the keys.
It’s not like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon don’t already have Canadian data centres. They all do.

There is an artificial intelligence app that allows you to "converse" with a dear departed one. Some people get so into it they think it's real.
On the other side of the equation there is Kahnmigo, a learning app for school kids that seems to be really useful and doesn't allow cheating.
