Just down the road Aragon is building several hundred condos at the Lampson Inn property.

Some new townhouses in the works in Sidney.

7 townhouse units are under construction at 10478 Resthaven Drive. The developer has since acquired a neighbouring property (10482 Resthaven Drive), and Council on March 15 endorsed sending the DP application for an additional 8 townhouse units to the Advisory Planning Commission for comment.

10482 Resthaven plans: http://www.sidney.ca...n_Dr_Plans.pdf

All 15 units are 3BR with a single-car garage.

A six-storey apartment building proposed for Raymond Street South in Saanich was rejected by council in a close vote.

On March 22, council debated the merits of a 59-unit housing development planned for 3656 Raymond St. South before voting 5-4 to reject the application. Couns. Rebecca Mersereau, Ned Taylor, Zac de Vries and Karen Harper were opposed.

in a poor piece of reporting i think the councillors above that are "opposed" actually are the ones that supported the application.

Colin Plant put forward a motion to reject, not approve, the project, which threw everyone off. Voting yes meant you were voting down the proposal.

So Yes getting 5 votes and No getting 4 was actually backwards. But this is not conveyed in the article so they quote the 4 who “rejected” the motion but say the project was struck down by 5 councillors.

A bit of a boondoggle that day.

I am not sure if it's comforting or disturbing that incompetent civic leadership exists beyond the city of Victoria's borders.

I don't understand what the boondoggle is, motions to reject or refer an application are normal. It's a vote to support the motion on the table. Was it a mess during the meeting?

It’s untraditional for Victoria, and even the media was caught off guard, saying the four who supported the project rejected it (but it was the motion they rejected).

Of course it does, it just has the appearance of being tame by comparison.

holy cow. 30 floors of water damage.

The residential portion of the $750-million, mixed-use complex contains 375 condominium homes and 105 market rental homes. London Drugs and Fresh St. Market are the tower’s anchor commercial tenants.

The bishop of the Anglican Diocese of B.C. says the cancellation of a 24-unit affordable-housing project on the property of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Esquimalt is a “case study” in why the province’s commitment to build affordable housing isn’t deliverable.

The Esquimalt housing complex would have been built above a new ministry centre at the Esquimalt Road site.

Flooding at Vancouver luxury condo tower caused by gasket failure, developer says

https://bc.ctvnews.c...-says-1.5392398

Note: CTV News has learned that one of several videos of the flooding broadcast at 11:30 p.m. on April 17 was actually from a different building and not associated with Vancouver House. We regret that this happened.

In a Titanic-esque turn of events, the massive residential high-rise Vancouver House flooded last week, damaging homes and elevators.

In a letter to residents Vancouver House Management explained a gasket on Level 29 of the building had failed on Thursday, April 15. That led to water cascading through the building.

The issue was reported at 8:50 p.m. and crews got there within half-an-hour, but not before 17 units were directly impacted and three elevators were shut down, according to Westbank, the developer behind the structure.

Repairs are estimated to take a month, though one elevator is back to working order and the other two are expected to be working this week. The building has almost 20.

I'm not aware of a better thread for this, so I'll drop it here.

Was out to Saanichton yesterday. Passed by Prosser at E. Saanich, the site of a new affordable housing complex. Excavators have been busy, there is now a big hole in the ground looking about one floor deep. Long and wide as well. So it is definitely happening.

underground parking for this social housing?

Maybe basements, or just the foundation? I'm not an engineer, and haven't seen layout plans for this site, so I'm guessing.

If they're following the Development Permit to the letter, there is a single level of underground vehicle and bicycle parking.
