Tried searching before posting .. sorry if this was posted before

Over the last 8 months IWCD has been working in collaboration with Starlight Developments to design and build the new Harris Auto Group Jeep Dodge Chrysler automotive dealership on the corner of Veteran's Memorial Parkway and Meaford Avenue in Langford. This massive 35,000sqft+ dealership will be one of, if not the largest on Vancouver Island and will be the first in Canada to incorporate Jeep's slick new image program. IWCD is excited to announce construction has begun this week!

the stilts they are on is interesting but that big sand box in the middle might be one of the strangest things.

Zackerbie, does the building code in BC permit homes to be built on stilts like this?

I don't know the BCBC so can't comment on stilts. I don't see why not though, as fundamentally it doesn't seem that far removed from building on a really tall crawlspace.

I think when you are on the ferry to the mainland you will see a few houses that are propped up by mostly concrete stilts on the islands.

 

can't see why it might be an issue.

My understanding has always been that in BC one corner of a structure has to be in the ground, and three corners can be in stilts. This was communicated by a Saanich planner way back when. It sounds like the was wrong, or at least didn’t explain the code succinctly.

Earl Large's latest housing project is selling like a house on fire.

 

The Fairhaven development, situated on a long-vacant lot on Cedar Hill Road, is nearing completion and is completely sold out.

Was checking out the suites at the new Colwood Corners. Behind London Drugs there is a development permit notification about a proposed to 13 story building. No other info.

Esquimalt Council rejected moving 812 Craigflower by Lapis Homes (12 units) to a public hearing by a 6:1 vote.
