Premier John Horgan officially certified the Royal B.C. Museum project on Wednesday as a fiasco of historic proportions, then did his best to absorb all the responsibility for it.
He did a lot better job of taking one for the team than he did explaining how years of work by all the ranking experts produced a soaring vision that crashed and burned before it even left the runway.
It was only five weeks ago he presided over the grandiose announcement of the $789-million project, which called for tearing down the RBCM and spending seven years building a new one on the same site. On Wednesday, he acknowledged the wall of public hostility to the idea and killed it.

Also note that the admission fee has been reduced to $5, as opposed to the Bug Zoo’s $16, which probably reflects their relative appeal to visitors now that the best galleries in the RBCM have been dismantled in aid of “decolonizing”.

Now it will stay screwed up and they will push through their plans through the back door. The fact of the matter is that the real issue is that this government has been hijacked by the Woke and the decision making is really bad for the average working person in BC.

Yet another reason to dispense with the NDP as quickly as possible.
Who cares if the Premier cancelled the project ... he's the one that proposed it - then defended it - and only after British Columbians rose up in unprecedented numbers to declare their non-support for the project did he cancel it.
Meanwhile, the existing museum is but a shell and shadow of its former self ... very likely even $5.00 being too much to ask for admission to a bunch of empty galleries.
I mean ... if you take out the Old Town, mining, farming, fishing, and First Nations exhibits ... is there even anything left to look at?

Now the province will "blue bridge" the RBCM until the public doesn't care if it's torn down or even if it's replaced.

I wonder if the eventuality there will be a complete 180, with the museum moving to another location and the lands on which it currently sits transferred to the First Nations.
Aside: This is my 70,000th post, btw. I should lay off the coffee.

No mention as to how the RBCM, which 40 days ago was a health hazard and at risk of immediately collapse, is now perfectly usable for the foreseeable future.

They are still moving the archives to Colwood. What fool put that under sea level anyway, make it easy to flood if they ever wanted to? Like what happened with the Oak Bay archives floodNo mention as to how the RBCM, which 40 days ago was a health hazard and at risk of immediately collapse, is now perfectly usable for the foreseeable future.
Most of the collection hasn’t been seen for generations or just by a few
