^ You should have been around when the Old Forge was in full swing.

Sounds terrifying.

I remember asking a girl to dance in the Old Forge late one evening, it went OK until she pointed out that the band was on a break.

Tourists from Texas and Idaho, and schoolkids from across B.C., ambled through the Royal B.C. Museum’s natural history gallery on Thursday, snapping photos in front of the woolly mammoth.

At just $5, admission is about the same price as a latte in the adjacent coffee shop.

The cashier explained the discounted price was owing to the empty third floor that once housed the Old Town exhibit and First Peoples galleries but was stripped in January in a “decolonization” effort.

The future of the half-empty museum was unclear a day after Premier John Horgan announced the province is abandoning its much-maligned $789-million plan to close, tear down and rebuild the museum by 2030.

Horgan’s about face on what the Opposition labelled his “vanity museum project” raises questions about how the 54-year-old institution will rebound after being labelled seismically unsafe and riddled with asbestos.

One possibility is scrapping the model of a single provincial museum in Victoria in favour of smaller museums across B.C.

Pathetic. Old town and the First Nations exhibits were the museum. Blue Bridge theory confirmed.

Although words like "sad", "mismanaged", and "lame" might be used to describe the current state of the museum ... "pathetic" indeed sums up the situation best.

So they ripped out the heart of our museum without asking then announced they were going to level it and use a lot of our money to build one in their image. When they saw us at the gates with the pitch forks they said “never mind” we will just charge less to look at the empty husk. Then they paint it that a great and humble leader has listened to the people and it is a moral achievement.
Clown world confirmed.

Between the RBCM mess, the complete failure in health care, and the unnecessary 2020 provincial election, the NDP have proven they are unfit to govern.

I think that this is the most telling line of the entire article. FN chiefs have said that they want the money and artifacts themselves ostensibly to build their own museums. Perhaps that was the plan all along.

I heard about a local function the other week where the NDP provided a backbench MLA from the interior to speak and glad hand. I understand that Ms. Lore has a lot on her plate but really, they were two blocks from her constituency office.

One could argue that the NDP was never fit to govern in the first place!

They were given the opportunity to prove themselves in 2017, and at almost every occasion since then, have proven themselves unworthy.

I dislike the changes as much as the next person but $5 is not that unreasonable. Heck they were charging what $25 two weeks ago for the same exhibit.

Yesterday I finally got a reply from The Amazing Invisible Woman, Grace Lore, to my complaint about the museum.  Well, it was obviously a bulk mailing, I’m sure there were a lot of names on the email list.  Basically kind of a pallid apology, per Horgan, but less sincere.

The recent reversal seems to highlight how screwed up this process was from the beginning.  First, tear out the best part of the museum, then announce a hare brained plan to replace it and close the facility for 10 years, then reverse course and start consultations.  Cart/horse.

They should have started with proper consultation, then assuming general approval, looked for a new site, built a new museum and then closed the old one.

I think Horgan allowed himself to be manipulated by the woke board and probably by Mark and Dubois.  All of them should be given their walking papers.
