There are metal straws if you need to drink it like that.

There are?  I never knew that.

To be honest they gross me out though.  I use plastic.  Oh the shame.

Wow my mind is flooded of jokes about how twizzlers can't stay straight, this is going to take some restraint not to post.

Apparently there is such a thing as paper straws and glass straws as well.

Unless glass can be made to shatter like safety glass, I'd stay away from those. Sounds like a recipe for accidental stabbings.

Metal straws: https://www.amazon.c...rds=metal straw

certainly not good for disposable use though. Paper may work much better for that:

As I suspected...

It starts with bags - something that the eco-mentalists can make a case against with relative ease.  People give them up, get comfortable with the sacrifice needed to "save the planet".

Now the war has shifted to drinking straws, and once again we will lay down and let the eco-mentalists walk all over us while we slowly convince ourselves that we're saving the planet.

Excuse me while I go turn on a few more lights...

The fight seems like a strange one.  Are birds ingesting straws?  That would seem difficult just physically.

I hear the term "he ate it just like a duck" often?

The Pacific Rim chapter of the Surfrider Foundation

One more for the list of organizations I'll refrain from donating to...

I suppose when they're done with bags and straws, they can set their sights on condoms.  I'm sure paper and glass condoms will work just fine.

And I often see government medical staff just disposing of their disposable gloves after just one use, you can easily get 90 maybe 100 uses out of a single pair.

^ Sure, reusable medical gloves, reusable needles, reusable condoms...

Won't someone please think of the birds?

Milkshakes just aren't the same when you don't have a straw.

Use a spoon bro.  I love a good banning of random tangible products.

Paper straws are hardly new, that's all they had before the plastic ones came out.

A little waxed paper and you're good to go.

I dunno, can they withstand the crushing forces applied by a thick chocolate milkshake during a protracted suck in the dead of summer?

You can always pull out a pen and turn it into a reusable plastic straw.

Know it all.
