World’s largest gnome needs a new home...

It would be the perfect addition to Centennial Square, where I am sure it would feel right at home.

Tuck it under the big tree, root out the regular squatters there.

I'd love to see it replace the big tree.

and here i was thinking it would be great on the Victoria side looking over the new bridge welcoming people into the downtown.. over that surf board art that they plan to install (though i still think they should do a larger version of the piggy award that it won should be on display with the pigs being the same size of like a 4yr old at the entrance of the foot path bridge)

The “Sea Lore” sculpture that was proposed to sit atop a rock off the shores of Oak Bay, will be finding a new home after council decided Monday to have all art installations be land-bound.

Too bad because there are some good water-based artworks like:

The ship is still there some of the water has been filled in by shops unfortunately treasure island smells like a pirate ship. The octostatue would be greatly enhanced by a tasteful theatrical performance.

It would seem the CoV's newest Artist in Residence is a musician.

Kathryn Calder was recently announced as the City's new Artist in Residence. Kathryn is a Victoria-based musician, songwriter/recording artist and recording studio owner...Calder’s professional experience in Victoria’s music industry is well-aligned with the City’s Create Victoria Arts and Culture Master Plan, which identifies the need to build on Victoria’s diverse and active music scene by positioning Victoria as a “Music City.”...

I suppose she'll be composing an official "climate emergency song" that all residents will be made to sing as they embark on their active transportation each day.

I'm hoping for a climate-related parody of Weird Al's "Virus Alert".

Art is what we* say it is.

The community activist and artist who started a painted power poles project in Fernwood 11 years ago said she understands why B.C. Hydro is asking for the effort to end.

About two weeks ago, B.C. Hydro notified Fernwood’s Neighbourhood Resource Group that it no longer wanted the group to hand out free paint and promote the painting.

I can't imagine that not letting people paint the poles is going  to popular or successful.
