Perusing Twitter, I note that Adam Stirling is being physically threatened by one of Victoria's creepiest "activist" pothead police-haters, and in threatening him, he even tagged Dubow and Potts.

Bruce Dean is not of this world. He isnt even a 'character around town' He's a bike nazi and a stoner. He hates the cops big time and any type of authority. Not surprised hes threatening Adam, also wouldnt be surprised he's not hanging out with the Beacon Hill Campers as they're his type of people

funny how hes now claiming he's a Transgender anti-poverty activist...the only thing he is, is a fool

What the hell is going on with Sterling? I have listened to CFAX and his show for a long time now, and generally agree with him on most things. I listened to him yesterday after the election call, and then today. He has wound himself up like a three dollar watch. It seems to have started with the homeless camper situation and he has gone all in since the election call. I get that he is not happy with what Horgan did. Neither am I. But his show has turned into his podium. I had to give up today and ended up switching over to CKNW, something I hadn't done in some time. The Jill Bennett show was on and it was such a different tone. Meaningful discussion with interesting callers, a mellow, balanced host. No ranting and raving. Sterling is going on how he was personally used and betrayed by the NDP. He sounded like he was wedgied by the school bully. I hope the rhetoric tones down and we can all get on with making our electoral decisions. We don't need a local Rush Limbaugh.

I made a similar point a few weeks back. His interviews are like interrogations and the endless droning on the same topics is getting difficult to listen to.

I can tell you how this ends if Adam isn't careful. He will get set up by the progressives, say the wrong thing in a fit,  and the next you know after the letter writing to Bell and the advertisers and he will be gone.

He is a very smart guy and I enjoy him quite a bit be he needs to broaden his topic coverage a little.

It does make me wonder if anyone in management there has had a word with him. It has become his personal soap box - needs to be more than that to maintain an audience and interest - if not he should get off the air and just do podcasts. You know you’ve taken it too far when you’re own fans are tired of your angry rants. When I hear Al Ferraby introduce him in the morning I wonder what that dynamic looks like, is Al kind of dying inside or not. Then again, as professional and likely as good of a person as Al is.. he bores the hell out of me.

I switched to CBC 90.5 a long time ago. I can't stand the endless ads on Cfax for Our place, the Cool-aid society, etc.

I mentioned the same thing to Mike about 6 weeks ago, he’s getting too preachy and is singularly focused. That’s ok for a few days but he has to change the channel. And he has to stop taking calls from the same 6 people ffs!!!

Rafe Mare was like this in his last year at NW with his single focus rants about fish farms. When they start losing listeners is when they’ll realize he needs to change it up. I’m starting to listen to Mike Smith a bit more as a result

An ex-Vancouver radio jock who is a good friend of the family, and who worked for nearly 45 years in radio everywhere from CFAX to CFUN, KISS-FM as well as CKNW in his last years, told me a few years ago that although Rafe was a titan at his peak at 'NW, in his later years he really did take a leap off the deep end re: the fish farm issue.

Well known as a life long fly fisherman Mair was indisputably an expert on the state of BC fishing generally including the destructive impact of fish farms; regardless when one has a broad mass audience to play to it becomes tedious and repetitive when the on-air personality beats the same drum over and over and over. I also love fishing - but I wouldn't want to listen to the same op-ed each day, every day, especially when there are so many other potentially interesting subjects of interest to a wider domain especially in BC where politics is a wild west topic at the best of times.

The days of a radio jock carving out a long career with the same station are long gone with consolidation and mergers and buy outs in the industry, so yeah Sterling is well advised IMO to gear it down and throttle back. Lots of far higher profile, better known - and influential - on air personalities than him have been shown the door once their welcome is worn out.

He is a two year running recipient of the Sam Ross Award, so I wouldn’t be so quick to discount his strategy here.

He’s flushing something out of the NDP. We don’t know what, just yet, but he likely has a pretty good idea of what he’s after.

There’s a fine line to walk here when taking the route that he is, in that his target is growing mighty uncomfortable as the wagons circle ever closer, while the public, kept in the dark, wants the beans spilled and to get on with it. But that’s not how this works, and just like the homelessness situation in Victoria where Stirling flushed out the violence and the criminality masked as misfortune over the literal span of five months, he’s handing us something that might not make sense today but eventually it’ll surface as a “well duh, everyone knows that” realization. Except nobody knows anything today, because the dots can’t be connected just yet in a public forum.

Just keep this in mind. The politics that make it to the paper are a morsel of what’s really going on. People like to think they’ve figured it all out, but they wouldn’t think that way if they realized what they believe to be true is 10% of something far more complicated than they’re privy to.

In any case, this election is only just beginning. And there’s plenty of dirty laundry to air.

Mike, I think that we are all saying we like the guy and have no issues with his broader message. My point, and I believe that of others as well, is that airing the same clip 20x a day for two weeks straight wears down even the most loyal follower.

I have enjoyed his bluntness and his ability to speak to what special interests want hidden, but I am not enjoying what has turned into a long winded rant.

Just to be clear, I am not a fan of the NDP, but I had to change the channel when he started taking about Horgan running around stabbing people and leaving them to die in the ditch.  Obviously an analogy, but WTF.

I am still reeling a bit from awhile back when he was announcing that should any harm come to him from the (then) Centennial Square campers, his army of supporters would rise up and take matters into their own hands. Very strange. On that note, the election call was Victoria City Councils best day when it comes to CFAX.

Separate from Stirling's show I've heard several people I know who are NDP  supporters  and not CFAX listeners say that they're disappointed because all parties banded together to not politic during the state of emergency and because they feel like the state of the province is due to the PHO and not the politicians. These people don't have a radio show but they're really upset too.

And my teacher friends? They're looking to vote Green or BC Ecosocialist if they have the chance.

That’s exactly what I’m saying/how I feel!

The election is a power grab and it’s unfair. We were all on deck here.

Juno has made a very important statement. Wilkinson may not be personable as a leader, but this will not be a personable election. This could work to his advantage in ways we haven’t foreseen.

I think he is making the same mistake Helps did. He is listening to a few hardcore supporters and thinking that their feedback represents the mainstream.

Sounds like the show is now just 9-12?  Remember it was extended until 1 until.... who used to have the 12-3 spot?
