The worker I got this year makes more than the ones I got two years ago and the benefits are better now too. I see your point, I just don’t agree with it. I’ve advertised for staff at a higher wage and still no interest from “locals”.

Matt.

Last year is a weird one though, with CERB paying people to stay home or work under the table.

yes.  a lot of people did both.  collected the CERB and worked under the table.  it was a bonus for industries such as construction/renovation where of course there was a boon.  suddenly you could pay a girl $20/hour under the table where she wanted $25 in the past.

Yikes, those theories are all over the place. For what it’s worth I saw a guy wearing a Five Guys t-shirt downtown on Wednesday.

Maybe I should put on my In and Out Burger t-shirt and walk around.

More meant in regards to the volume that this store should do (if other locations are a reference). Poor location for a high traffic location.

The Cottage Bakery on Fairfield Road has closed permanently.

Martha’s Delectables, a local shortbread cookie baker, will be opening soon in the same Fairfield Rd storefront.

Weird so the first more full bakery couldn't make a go of it. Though I'm kind of in the hood, I didn't know this place existed. And now a place that concentrates on short bread cookies moves in?

I think Martha’s does a lot more wholesale, from what I was told.

From the CBC website:

https://www.cbc.ca/n...rants-1.6181074

"They also said that those participating in 'order and not pick up' takeout will be investigated and charged with fraud. This involves ordering food over the phone and not showing up to pay and pick up the food."

What a petty mean thing to do, specially in a small community.

So what's the vibe on SSI Matt?

Only around 67 per cent of residents age 12 and above in Nelson have had two shots of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Sept. 16, one of the lowest rates in the province.

Nelson restaurant Rel-ish has switched their business model to fast-food style to avoid having to check customers' vaccination status.

Owner and chef Trevor Ditzel said that he has moved away from serving alcohol and table service.

"I don't want to discriminate against anyone at all ... so far I've gotten a lot more positive feedback than negative feedback."

Ditzel said that if this business model turns out to be unsuccessful, he will close his restaurant before he asks customers to show their vaccination cards.
