A little further north than the CRD but sounds like there's been yet another crash on the Cameron Lake stretch of Hwy 4. Air ambulance circling the area and traffic at a standstill. Can't find any info online via DriveBC or other sources, yet.

Heard it might be a semi vs. car but can't confirm. FYI I'm not there, just hearing from others who are stuck in the traffic and getting updates.

Yikes, that's frightening.

Our infrastructure on this Island is just brutal. So many roads that would never be major thoroughfares in other parts of the country, let alone in western nations.

A motorist collided with a tree early this AM on Sooke Road/Highway 14 at Woodlands Road. The collision was described as "secrious" by Sooke RCMP, and resulted in a highway closure for several hours. The highway is open to single-lane traffic right now. It has created an absolute mess on this first day of school, etc.

A man has died after being crushed by his own vehicle in a Vancouver McDonald’s drive-thru on Wednesday morning.

Vancouver Police were called to the location at Main and Terminal around 5:30 am to assist with a single-vehicle collision.

In a news release, the VPD said surveillance footage shows the driver dropping an object out of his vehicle while paying. When he went to pick up the item, the vehicle rolled forward and trapped him between the vehicle door and frame.

that’s unlucky. especially if he was retrieving a quarter or loonie.

Police, ambulance paramedics, and firefighters responded to calls of a collision about 2 a.m. Tuesday. They arrived to find “multiple persons with serious life-threatening injuries,” said Manseau.

Sooke RCMP said Thursday they are aware of a “high degree of public interest in this incident, and also that there is information circulating on social media regarding the specifics” but said no further details would be released at this time.

OBPD “File #2021-2766: On Saturday, September 4th, a patrol member was conducting radar enforcement on Foul Bay Road. A blue 2002 Mercedes C240 was driving northbound at a high rate of speed and the radar locked in a speed of 142 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone. The 38-year-old male driver turned onto a side road, hit a curb, and drove into a cul-de-sac where the officer noted the driver’s side tire was flat and the rim was damaged. The driver showed signs of liquor indicia and an ASD was administered showing a “FAIL” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for excessive speeding (exceeded by more than 60 km/hr) with a prescribed fine of $483.00”: https://oakbaypolice...impression=true

I think the only police department to say someone appeared drunk by stating liquor indicia is OBPD.

Certainly sounds like a mental health problem and not a criminal issue.

Why weren’t social workers sent in?

Why do we continue to criminalise the very real health condition known as alcoholism?

If we had more safe consumption sites this guy would not have had to travel by car to the pub maybe.

Why not allow only lame vehicles on the road

Or once caught speeding thereafter only allowed a “lame” vehicle
