i don't know.  i think they did a few things right.

 

even feeding the dog the sub sandwich was not such a bad idea.  helps fatten it up in case they had to eat the dog next week.

 

maybe they would need a big fire.  how long does it take to cook a 45lb. dog - medium rare - by campfire?  rob randall?

Thanks for asking. Feeding the dog to eat it is a common misconception. Of course, all survivalists know feeding a large dog a subway sandwich induces acute flatulence in the dog, which efficiently heats up the cab of the truck.

Back in the dark ages when we first had a roll-in tv in our grade 6 classroom, maybe around 1966, there was a good series on CBC in the mornings, teaching kids what to do if they're lost in the woods. Had lots of good hints which I remember to this day. Trying to make lots of smoke with damp branches was definitely one of them (assuming you had a fire going).

I know it’s easy to criticize, but they really didn’t make much of an effort to help their situation. It took them three days to venture just a bit down the road and they reached a signal. That’s Day 1 stuff when you’re stuck.

Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are asking for your assistance as work to locate missing man Rhett Dahl.

Rhett is described as a 43-year-old Caucasian man with stubble length sandy brown hair and grey eyes. Rhett is five feet, nine inches tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds, with a large build. A photograph of Rhett is below.

 

 

Rhett’s family have not heard from him since March of 2020, which is out of character for him. They reported him missing yesterday and Patrol officers are working to locate him now. Rhett’s family need to know he is safe.

Sooke RCMP takes over search for Steven Grant missing since Jan. 30

Feb. 9, 2021

Steven Grant was reported missing to West Shore RCMP on Jan. 30. Sooke officers found the black 2008 Toyota Tundra he drives on Feb. 6 prompting that detachment to take over the case.

Exercise challenge aims to bring attention to missing Nanaimo woman’s case

February 17, 2021

Dozens of people are participating in a 40 day exercise challenge in advance of what would have been a Nanaimo woman’s 40th birthday.

 

Lisa Marie Young went missing in 2002 at the age of 21 after leaving a party with Christopher Adair in a Jaguar.

Nanaimo resident Cyndy Hall is organizing the event and she’s been raising awareness about Young’s case ever since Young’s mother died.

Missing person to locate – Jessica James

North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing resident.

Jessica James was last seen in West Shore area of Vancouver Island in the fall of 2020 and her family states that it is out of character for her to be out of contact for this long, although she has gone months between family contacts in the past.

Since Jessica James’ disappearance, police have followed up on several leads and possible sightings, however she remains missing.



Jessica James is described as:

    * caucasian woman,
    * 40 years old
    * 5’5 tall (165 cm) tall,
    * slender build
    * green eyes
    * brown hair
    * several tattoos on her left arm

Police, friends and family are very concerned for Jessica James’ health and well-being. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jessica James is urged to contact the North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522

Have You Seen High-Risk Missing Woman Kiana Chamberland?

Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are asking for your assistance as we work to locate high-risk missing woman Kiana Chamberland.

 

Kiana is described as a 24-year-old Caucasian woman with long brown hair. Kiana stands five feet, four inches tall, and has a thin build. She has multiple tattoos, including the roman numeral for "13" on her left chest, and a crown on the back of her neck. She may have a large Michael Kors purse with her that is brown with black straps and may have some green paint on it.

 

Two recent photographs of Kiana are below.

 

Kiana was last seen since April 15th at approximately 4 p.m. in the area of the 600 block of Nelson Street in Esquimalt.

 

The circumstances under which Kiana has gone missing are considered to be high-risk and officers are concerned for her safety.

Officers are seeking assistance from the public as they work to locate missing person Megan Letham.

Megan is 24 years old, described as 5’9” tall, 125-130 lbs, short, light brown hair, with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a large sweater with “Superbowl 2020,” a grey Patagonia v-neck t-shirt, an orange toque, black pants, and blue tye-dyed sneakers. She may be also wearing a taupe-coloured blanket and a small backpack or slingpack.

Megan was last seen on Saturday, April 17 th at 7:30 pm and her last known location was in the Mount Douglas Park area. If you see Megan Letham, please call 9-1-1. If you have information to provide on her whereabouts, please contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 and refer to file 21-8442.
