Throughout the myriad economic discombobulations of this wretched pandemic, The Capital has been trying hard to keep tabs on how you can keep supporting our struggling local businesses. We put together a list of every eatery that was offering takeout and delivery and then assembled a catalogue of every store that was offering COVID-friendly shopping. Now, dining-in has returned to the Capital Region.

Below, we assembled the most comprehensive list we could of every place you can now eat in Victoria that isn’t your kitchen table.

Did we miss anything? Email contact@capnews.ca and please include a link.

it's of course not a super big list.  presumably hundreds of places are missing off there.  but at least someone made the effort.

the dvba has a longer list:  https://downtownvict...n-for-business/

The Vicious Poodle Pub is opening on Johnson this Friday. Caught a glimpse in the door yesterday and it looks good. Sign on the door says they're currently permitted up to 34 occupants. They're planning to have shows on Tuesday nights, and a regular Saturday drag brunch. Can't wait to check it out.

i'm seeing most pubs/bars are closing at 10pm or 11pm weekdays, maybe midnight weekends.  is that a requirement?  or is business not so good late?

Weird, the PHO hasn’t requested that you get contact info from every table.

The Irish Times asked for a cell phone number when we went there a week or so ago...

So, to sum up: over the last month or two we've had:

CLOSED:

Redd's

NEW:

Vicious Poodle (as of Fri.)

FUTURE UNCERTAIN:

Copper Owl (at Paul's Motor Inn)

I feel like there's something I'm missing there - did another one also permanently close recently, other than Redd's?

The order is that if you already, in the course of normal business, collect that information then you must keep it on file for 30 days. Otherwise, no need.

That got changed from collecting info from every table where “practicable”.

That’s it.

Not forever, but there’s no reopening date.

New ownership is taking over and there's nothing official I've heard in terms of who owns it or when it will open again.  It is not closed forever.

i guess i did not mean forever.  but not re-opening like most places have.  presumably places that do not re-open now are undergoing some type of shake-up.  staff or management or ownership or otherwise.

Update: Vicious Poodle was open when I went by earlier - well, yesterday now as I type this.  Soft opening was June 10, official opening is June 12.

Regrettably I didn't have time to stop off for a beer, but it looks like a nice little pub - the sort we need many more of around town. :)

Restaurant restrictions easing

https://www.cbc.ca/n...ne-11-1.5608550

Henry also announced Thursday that she is lifting restrictions on restaurants that required them to operate at 50 per cent of their regular capacity.

A modified public health order requires restaurants to determine how many people they can serve while still maintaining a two-metre distance between groups. Operators are required to monitor their premises to make sure that capacity isn't exceeded and those distances are maintained, including in line-ups.

The order says there can be no more than six people in any party, and if a two-metre distance can't be maintained between tables, a Plexiglas partition should be installed.

Buffets and self-serve stations are allowed to operate as long as there is a handwashing facility or hand sanitizer within easy reach and signs reminding customers to clean their hands before touching anything.

so now that things are back to normal can we re-open government street?
