I am not surprised. I can't recall the last time such strong winds were sustained for so long at least in downtown Victoria.

Is it not windy where you are Mike? My windows have been rattling since about 8:00 last night.

If they start back up soon, we are looking pretty good at the slack being picked up. The 11 from the Mainland (< this saves me writing Tsswasseenn) is full, low after that.

I took the ferry over to Nantucket (just sound of Cape Cod) a few summers ago. Crossing time is 2.25 hours and fares each way are $18.50 for passengers and $200 for cars. I know its hard, but our fares are a fraction of that. I don't know if they get any subsidies thou

Sailing to/from Nanaimo are also cancelled. The smaller ferries serving the Islands appear to be mostly operating.

If you were to move to the Nanimo you would only need to know Departure Bay and Horeshoe Bay.

3 sailing wait from Swartz Bay. But it’s often two sailings this time of day without the cancellations.

the ferry that just arrived is one hour late (ie., it took them one hour longer than normal).

I've been sitting at the terminal since 10:45 and now it's 1:47.
Looks like my ferry has finally arrived!
I have an old friend who is still waiting for her ship to come in.

I think they are actually holding up pretty good, considering. I guess it helps that the early sailings were cancelled, not the later ones.

No it didn’t - it simply left late. 71 minutes late on departure and arrived 60 minutes late on arrival. They made up 11 minutes.
My mistake as i've found out on their website which now appears to be working again. Very odd though, because at the terminal here in Swartz Bay, at around 12:15, they announced "the 1pm ferry is delayed by 15 minutes due to high winds". Then half an hour later, they announced "the 1pm ferry is 40 minutes late due to high winds". So i assumed the ferry was running slow.

At 10:40am, the BC Ferries website indicated the 11am was full, and the 12pm was at 30% and the 1pm was at 20%. So i raced to the ferry to find the 12pm full, and the 1pm full. Clearly the website today was not operating properly.
