Tons of snowbirds are fleeing the coop.
I’d be so stoked to be one of the first people pulling up to PA
I'll let you know how it feels

I talked to US Border Protection Service today, as far as they are concerned the land and ferry border are closed until January 21 2022.
It says the same thing on their website.
Temporary Restriction of Travelers Crossing US-Canada and Mexico Land Borders for Non-Essential Purposes
The United States (U.S.) is cooperating closely with Canada to ensure that North American has a coordinated approach to combating the pandemic caused by the coronavirus also known as COVID-19.
Effective October 22, 2021, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will extend the Notification of Temporary Travel Restrictions Applicable to Land Ports of Entry and Ferries Service Between the United States and Canada and the respective Notification for Canada and Mexico. This notification goes into effect at 12 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on October 22, 2021 and will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on January 21, 2022.
I talked to Coho people and they said if it did not become official they would not sail.

...Dr. Cindy Friedman, chief of the travellers' health branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says clarity on the rules for land-border visitors is coming soon. Friedman says Customs and Border Protection is expected to announce in the next few days whether travellers crossing the land borders will need to show proof of a negative test. Biden administration officials say the land-border rules will likely hew closely to the same CDC guidance that produced the requirements for air travellers...https://www.ctvnews....-test-1.5638974

With fires aboard the MV Zim Kingston under control, crews were able to survey the ship and determined more than 100 containers had been lost at sea, not the 40 originally reported.
Late Tuesday, authorities received updated accounting on the shipping containers from the owner of the Kingston, according to a statement from the Canadian Coast Guard. Of the almost 2,000 containers aboard the cargo ship, almost 1,000 were on deck. It has now been determined 106 containers fell overboard, not the 40 originally estimated by aircraft observation.

I think we have had beer and wine on the ferries for two years now.
Has there been a single problem - especially compared to all the talk when the program was announced?
Talk about a nothingburger.

The Coastal Celebration is currently en route from Swartz Bay to Duke Point. Looks like she's taking the "long way around", currently in Active Pass.
She can be tracked here: COASTAL CELEBRATION Current position (Passenger/Ro-Ro Cargo Ship, IMO 9332779) - VesselFinder

B.C. Ferries’ sixth Island Class vessel is set to arrive in Victoria Harbour on Tuesday.
Island 6, as it is currently known, arrives after a 72-day journey from Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania. The vessel left Oct. 11 and travelled under its own power.
The ship, which will head to Point Hope Maritime for final inspection, is expected to tie up at Ogden Point late Monday and leave around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday for the shipyard. It is expected to sail under Johnson Street Bridge around 3 p.m.
Once inspections and trials are complete, the vessel will join sister ship Island Kwigwis in service next spring between Nanaimo and Gabriola Island.

??
That's only a 20-minute trip. It doesn't really have two ferries does it? That damn island of 4,000 has hourly ferries from ~5am to 11pm. That's quite something. Is it going to get every-30-minute service in the spring?
oh, FFS:
The Island Kwigwis will begin service in Spring 2022, allowing for two-ship operations on the route between Nanaimo Harbour and Gabriola Island.
