I don’t really know what to expect after my first poinsettia experience but the way Dr. Isitt was philosophizing like a stackable Santa Claus.

A few shots from Butchart Gardens last night. Always enjoy this time as it reminds me of my late dad who loved Christmas; heading out to the garden's became something of a tradition for us especially when our daughter was younger and it was a big deal for her. One of the last things we did with the entire family, local and extended, when he was still with us was a "Butchart's Christmas" in 2011. For me in many ways it is the official kickoff to the yuletide season.

Just a heads up for some of you using Spotify to stream Christmas music over the loudspeakers at your workplace: their playlist of traditional standards includes Eazy E's Christmas hit Merry Muthaphuckkin' Xmas.

As long as Spotify isn't playing something truly offensive like Baby It's Cold Outside.

Thing is, a couple weeks ago we had an old phone hooked up to Spotify but a shoplifter stole it.

So we had to go back to playing Christmas CDs. But they're old and scratched and it would skip and play the first 30 seconds of Baby It's Cold Outside over and over for a couple of hours until someone noticed.

Sure you didn't accidentally set it to Hip Hop Christmas?

The Downtown Victoria Business Association has purchased a $500,000 light display that will illuminate Centennial Square every December for many years to come.

The light display is the latest December offering from the DVBA which in year’s past has installed a skating rink and ferris wheel in the square as ways to attract people into downtown during the holiday season.

that should drive isitt crazy.  these are cool and very popular in other cities (usually magnitudes larger though).  i think it would actually be much better around the lower and upper causeway and even the empress lawn at the harbour but i guess that's not their turf.

About time.  Wandered around the square before the parade last year and it was a disappointment.

Even if it doesn't attract a single extra visitor downtown during holiday season, if the presence of the light display gets under the skin of the CoV's most humbug communist, then it will be money well spent.

I popped into Lowe’s yesterday and the Christmas trees were already up at the entrance! Quite a surprise.

Actual live Christmas carols will be sung by children December 2, 3, 4 and 6 from noon - 12:45 p.m. upstairs at City Hall. If you love Christmas and want to visit City Hall but are afraid you might run into Ben Isitt this is your chance because he will be long gone those days.
