The Centennial Square lights folks started their set up yesterday (and today, tomorrow, etc).
As an aside, the protest crowd (the one that caused the cancellation of the Legislative light up celebration) started their march by blocking the entire intersection of Douglas and Broughton at the 4:30-5:00pm rush hour last night, with about a 15 or so cops from multiple jurisdictions present to keep the peace.
We're repeatedly told that we're desperately short of available police to attend to serious crimes, but we seem to have a couple of dozen cops on hand to attend a rush hour, traffic blocking protest?
Protestors were your typical bunch of non-working folks dressed in cedar bows and yelling about the evils of society ... I mean continue to do your thing, but get off the bloody road!
Begs the question as to when protests and protestors begin to equate their marches with blocking rush hour traffic ... and why do the police and courts continue to allow them to undertake such dangerous actions?
