as many at the truck parade if not more

Actually went down to Ogden Point this time. Flagger said they expected 77 trucks. There were 2 no shows. So yes, seemed the same as previous years.

Pro tip #1 - if you go to Ogden Point and watch them leave, they are moving much slower then so much better chance to appreciate all the details and work.

Pro tip #2 - it is a very short distance from Ogden Point to Belleville and Govt. Catch them a 2nd time.

Oh and if you are at Ogden Point, you get to hear "we have a convoy" blaring from the one truck that had a great sound system. Probably lost on most people under a certain age.

The parade was great! Tons of people lined the streets on the West Shore, and I think I saw a dozen of those portable propane fireplaces among the crowds as it was chilly last night. Some people clearly know the drill and treat the event like a tailgate of sorts.

Lots of families lined Government Street to watch the truck parade as well.

I love all the oil burned for this display. I’m entering my coal truck next year.

Yes, all the parking spots along Dallas Rd were filled early. There were a couple of those tents used to keep the rain off and indeed a few portable fire pits going.

Did you happen to notice any picnickers down at Clover Point?

Well it's nice to see little glimmers of normalcy and happiness.  This has been a pretty crazy 16 months and while I know we have a ways to go, I do think we will get back to normal eventually.

I also managed to get most of my Christmas display up!  In the grand scheme of things, trivial, but for me it's a big middle finger to all of the negativity.

Surely we've endured at least 16 YEARS of plague-induced madness.

Locally, I like to think of Xmas celebrations as an FU to Comrade Isitt:banana:

his thoughts do always give me something to think about. I don’t want to use the phrase “devil's advocate”. Which reminds me I need to pick up some of the candy cane flavoured/striped rolling paper

I have to admit I try to input as little religion into Christmas as possible but I do like poinsettias and whatnot

As I am sure I have said before in this very thread, I am an atheist, but I love almost everything about the holiday season; with the exception of those whiny folks who believe there is a "war on Christmas".

Person living nearby till he moved would put up red atheist lights every year, you wouldn’t know it but he would walk around the neighbourhood telling everyone

As I’ve said before Christmas and Las Vegas are pretty much the same thing: lights, spending/loss, greed and the good the unhappy and the joyful, overindulgence, food, shows
