aha gotcha! so they also can't keep in or out a virus then!

not very well at all. they do tend to limit the distance the virus travels away from the face though.

Here is what the science says about masks.

"None of the studies established a conclusive relationship between mask/respirator use and protection against influenza infection. Some evidence suggests that mask use is best undertaken as part of a package of personal protection especially hand hygiene. The effectiveness of masks and respirators is likely linked to early, consistent and correct usage."\

So masks now at the end (not early), inconsistent and incorrect usage. (random material styles not disposable, cleaned etc).

don’t we all agree masks have minimal direct impact?

but are better than nothing and also remind us of other precautions?

How do you know that?

You have to hit the virus with electrons to even see it!

if 85% of the deaths in Canada are in long term care homes and only 5% of our elderly are in long term care homes why are we not focusing on that?

because we’ve overacted like every other country in the world.

we’ve turned over decisions to the EXACT PEOPLE that have the least to lose from the shutdowns. Politicians and medical officials and administrators that are receiving full salary plus often more during the pandemic.

I think we are also seeing that this is not all about deaths anymore, but about longer lasting effects as well.  Continuing to focus on 85% for elderly is again, kind of insulting to all the others who have been affected.

This is exactly it. and is why I am compelled to point out the ridiculousness of the reaction. The US already is showing us that goggle come after masks. Then what? I would rather we just not go there at all. As you said, masks are not proven effective at all and the evidence so for actually says they are ineffective. This is why our BC nurses union won there fight against them having to wear masks all day...

Like those losing their businesses, jobs, passions, the kids being abused, depression? child abuse, drug overdoses etc....

longer lasting effects is a fallacy. like fibromialgia and and the tooth fairy.

“Long termers” are just lazy louts. And Alyssa Milano.

Look at the other Victoria. They are in a 6 week hard lockdown because 200 cases were recorded in 24 hours. Remember the mortality rate of this is similar to the flu, we haven't succeeded in getting rid of the flu. So if cases will always exists we should expect this to be the new normal?

every hypochondriac loves jumping on this thing because compassion runs fairly high. But it’s a crock. Long term effects are no different than cold and flu. as in none.

You're dangerously stupid.

"Ongoing problems include fatigue, a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, achy joints, foggy thinking, a persistent loss of sense of smell, and damage to the heart, lungs, kidneys, and brain."

"SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can disrupt a breathtaking array of tissues in the body. Like a key fitting neatly into a lock, SARS-CoV-2 uses a spike protein on its surface to latch onto cells’ ACE2 receptors. The lungs, heart, gut, kidneys, blood vessels, and nervous system, among other tissues, carry ACE2 on their cells’ surfaces—and thus, are vulnerable to COVID-19. The virus can also induce a dramatic inflammatory reaction, including in the brain."

I think they are trying to avoid 600, 1,000 or more a day.  Yes it seems extreme I get that but that is what they are deciding.  They have done quite well so I'm not sure who is right here.  Hmm and no this is not like the flu, not close.  More contagious and more people die.  Comparing this to the flu is silliness...  Easy to see that.

eating chocolate does that too. Or using cocaine once.

Long term effects are still nil.

And don’t worry about my posts being “dangerous”. Nobody follows my advice.

Top lockdown states, by deaths per million and unemployment rate:

NY: 1,688 and 15.7%
NJ: 1,796 and 16.6%
MA: 1,268 and 17.4%

Top non-lockdown states:

KY: 173 and 4.3%
UT: 108 and 5.1%
ND: 148 and 6.1%

How about GA, TX and FL?

GA: 398 and 7.6%
TX: 301 and 8.6%
FL: 398 and 10.4%
