Not great. Not great. But I was full after one flat, I’ll admit to that.

Dan Mangan, April 21 Royal Theatre.

10th anniversary of “Nice Nice Very Nice”, and it looks like the first set is that album performed entirely with the second set being from the rest of the catalogue. He’s great live!

Presale is tomorrow, general on sale Friday.

Matt.

Picked up some tickets to see The National in Tokyo in March in a small venue. Pretty happy about that!

Ticket holders likely know this already, but the Strumbellas are postponing their cross-Canada tour due to illness. The tour was scheduled to start in Victoria at the Royal Theater on Thursday.

Staging a music festival in Canada is a hideously difficult thing. So many have tried and so many have failed. Roxodus. Virgin Music Festival. Edgefest. Riot Fest. Pemberton. The list goes on.

However, Gene Simmons of KISS things he has the secret sauce.

Simmons has teamed up with Chuck Varabioff, a Canadian promoter, to create Titans of Rock, which is envisioned as a classic rock series. The first event is set for Grand Forks, British Columbia, August 6-8, 2020.

Where? It’s right along the border with Washington State, about 500 km east of Vancouver and 200 km south of Kelowna. Population: 4,000. Gene will personally host the whole thing.

The lineup is scheduled to be announced tomorrow (January 17), so watch this space.

The historical ethnic make-up of Grand Forks and surrounds is very conservative, I can't see this as anything the residents of Grand Forks would want to see happen in their town.

IN CONCERT
What: An Evening With Choir! Choir! Choir!
Where: Capital Ballroom, 858 Yates St.
When: Sunday, 7 p.m.
Tickets: $24.50 from eventbrite.ca ($37.93 with fees)

The practice of teaching strangers to sing popular songs is not exclusive to Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman, the creative directors of Toronto’s Choir! Choir! Choir!

But they have been more successful than most, having taught tens of thousands to sing at their weekly drop-in event, reaching more than 40 million viewers on YouTube in the process.

Don’t Stop Believin’: Choir! Choir! Choir! comes to Victoria

it's a replacement of "cannafest" cannabis festival (2015-2019).  were they ok with that?

I think there still are. Gotta stop for perogies while passing through. Must be three pierogi places in that town.
