The new brewery in Market Square (Whistle Buoy) only has snacks and encourages folks to order in their food from Skip if they want a meal.

Regarding WHY one orders Skip, let's not forget those who are mobility challenged or ill and cannot leave their homes easily, but need to eat. It's a nicer option than a microwave meal from a grocery delivery service.

Go to posts of 21 June to 24 July 2012.  First, thanks to Sparky for pinpointing Chez Marcel.  I believe it later moved to a new location in Colwood, on the right of Island Highway (old) as you go out of town.  Great frog legs, apparently.

I was hoping for more reminiscences and nostalgia about Polar Pete's.  Wonderful hotdogs!  Heading out of town on Island Highway (TCH was not yet constructed), going past the Six Mile on the right, cross Parson's Bridge, and there was Polar Pete's.  We used to stop there often on the way to Col and Mildred's.  It was just little drive-up, walk-up stand with a narrow gravel parking area.

By the way, you always knew when the Children's Allowance cheques had come in the mail.  The Six Mile parking lot was full.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but Ox King Noodles will soon be vacating their space in Hudson Mews.  The sign on their door indicates that they are relocating, but I'm unsure of where their new location will be...

I “think” The Jukebox? Does that make sense?

The Jukebox could be a viable location for them, especially if the emphasis continues to be on carry-out and delivery...

Yup, they’ve had a coming soon sign up at the Jukebox for a month or so. I had assumed it would be a second location though, not a relocation.

The fixtures have been installed so Ox King might be open in a month.

time to crowdsource the location of this $450,000 restaurant.

Amazing opportunity in Victoria. Gorgeous space with a fantastic patio and a good lease of $8000/month all in. 2 years left with a 5 year option. High quality construction throughout the building. Great opportunity for someone wanting a "flagship" location in the heart of the city.

the sign in the background is it "b" then 4 letters and ending in "s"?

Don't bother with your magnifying glasses. Both photos are generic stock images. The boiled egg photo is a mustard company's Twitter image: https://twitter.com/...302264297865216

oh man... been racking my brain all morning.  $450k for a restaurant that still has to pay $8000/mo. lease.  that would have to be pretty darned nice and would probably need to seat at least 125-150.

$8000 triple net isn’t too bad if it’s a nice space in a nice location. At $450 it probably grosses 1.5 mil a year. Easy to do with 75-100 seats.

The Cookie Guy on Blanshard is closing on Wednesday. The sandwich board out front says they're "moving" but then just says to check out their Uptown kiosk (which has been open for a few months) or to order online.

Hopefully they will find a new downtown storefront...

Are they connected to the cafe on West Saanich Rd?
