Yeah I was on the Cybertruck preorder list thinking that it was going to get less crazy, but it didn't. I'm not so much concerned about the design as the size; it's just too big. Most appealing for me is the Rivian RS1, but I can't bear to spend $100k on a vehicle that will be available for half in a few years. I don't hard-core off-road but I do some steelheading from time to time and there are some gnarly spots to get through on occasion. I just want something that can get me to and from mid-island without charging, carry my family, get through some washouts on occasion and isn't 6m long or $100k. Doesn't seem a tall order.

They are shrinking the Cybertruck so it can fit into more garages.

I just ordered the new Ford Maverick hybrid while I wait for the F150 Lightning. Whats not to love, for $35k fully loaded 40mpg, hybrid, 4 dr plus a 4.5' box that extends to just under 6'. Should be here around January to replace my 16 year old GX470... the anti car crowd are going to have a hard time dissing a truck that gets better mileage than a Civic

I'd be surprised if you get it by January.

Order a new F150 today and you'll be lucky to get it by May.

I don't know what is holding up the electronics so much, but there is a minimum 6 month wait time from what Ive heard.

Try being in the IT business and having to supply hardware to clients right now...  It's a nightmare.

Let’s be honest here. Ford dropped the ball. As did the other American automakers.

Toyota isn’t having these supply issues because they have a more robust supply chain.

Yup. They needed to hold their suppliers feet to the fire, and they did not anticipate the sales volumes at all.

The sales volumes are interesting. It’s quite the confluence of factors, with used vehicle prices rising fast to make-up the lack of new vehicle inventory, while new vehicle demand has risen as used cars are now much more expensive making a new vehicle order more palatable for more people.

Long lines of cars stretched from Greater Victoria service stations Wednesday as pumps began running dry.

Difficulties trucking gas over the Malahat were leading to shortages, said Peninsula Co-op’s director of operations, Erik Gault, who pleaded with motorists to stay off the highway.

“It’s not a fuel shortage per se,” he said, “but we’ve got a real bottleneck on the Malahat.”

All the gas companies will be in the same boat, he said.

Leithan Slade of Suncor, which owns Petro-Canada, echoed Gault in saying there isn’t a shortage of gas on Vancouver Island, just a challenge in getting it over the Malahat. “There are a few sites in Victoria that are out of fuel, and we’re working to refill them as soon as we can.”

Vancouver Island stations are supplied with gas off-loaded at five terminals north of the Malahat. Shell has a tank farm at Bare Point near Chemainus, while Imperial Oil (Esso) and Suncor (Petro-Can) have terminals in Nanaimo. Parkland Fuel has terminals at Port Hardy and at Hatch Point at Cobble Hill.

Looks like I picked a great week to open Jerry’s Jerry Cans near Fort Victoria RV. We have top quality 10 gallon cans with marked marine fuel for $175.00. No tax. And no metric system.

Y’all come see us now!

Or just fill up a plastic grocery bag. "They're not just single use".

Now all the people raging “there was no shortage!” which is probably correct but the best way to get to the actual shortage we have is saying we won’t have a shortage.

Works every time.

And we had our own Premier doing exactly that yesterday.

Shortage or not, a re-supply is coming.

The cycling groups are getting quite upset at motorists that blocked cycling lanes waiting to enter gas stations. There’s one video showing a cyclist kicking a vehicle. Motorists should know not to block bike lanes, but are the dramatics really necessary, that kick to someone’s vehicle?
